FACT 2027 Fund-a-Farmer Systems Change and Innovation Grants

Individual applicant award: Up to $10,000. Food Animal Concerns Trust (FACT) states it plans to fund four projects under this 2027 competition. The grant is financial assistance to eligible farms and is separate from FACT’s $3,500 Welfare Improvement track.

Application deadline: Sunday, January 10, 2027, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. The new cycle opened November 1, 2026. Awards are expected by the end of February 2027, with payments anticipated in March 2027. Projects should be completed by June 1, 2028.

Eligible farms

Working independent family farms and farms run by federally recognized Tribal entities engaged in food-animal production and sale, meeting FACT’s farm/business and species conditions. Nonprofit organizations are ineligible. FACT may require Schedule F or equivalent farm tax records before making an award.

Project uses

Eligible purposes include infrastructure needed to convert confined or non-pasture animal production to pasture-based management and the adoption of alternative, heritage, or slower-growing breeds, including necessary changes to genetics, housing, feeding systems, and marketing. FACT also encourages cooperative approaches among pasture-based farms. Proposed activities must meet 2027 project guidelines and scoring criteria.

A single farm may submit applications to both FACT 2027 tracks but can be funded under only one. Existing farm operations, routine purchases of feed or land, and animal slaughter projects are not supported under the funder’s published general restrictions. FACT does not state a universal matching-funds obligation on the public 2027 program page; confirm application-form and budget requirements.
