The current official opportunity is funded through Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund and supports Minnesota-based individuals and organizations developing high-quality academic, cultural, and ethnic studies materials for Minnesota K-12 students from underrepresented, primarily orally based communities, including but not limited to Hmong, Karen, Somali, and Oromo cultures.
Verified Current Terms
MHC will award $400,000 during the biennium, less allowable administrative costs. Applicants may request up to $125,000. Applications are due October 2, 2026 at 6:00 PM CDT. Projects must work with school districts that intend to use the materials, and a letter of support from a Minnesota licensed teacher or school district official is required. Applicants requesting $50,000 or more must submit the applicable financial documentation. Funding must support new work or new additions to existing work and cannot reimburse pre-agreement costs.
The official FAQ clarifies that applicants must be based in Minnesota; school districts themselves are not eligible applicants; the program is for nonprofit and for-profit community organizations and individuals. A fiscal sponsor may be used where permitted. MHC may fund eligible project costs not already covered by another funder. Eligible examples include project-related staff compensation and independent-contractor compensation. Ineligible examples include capital costs, fundraisers, promotional giveaways, out-of-state expenses, unrelated indirect costs, certain food costs, non-project staff time, and cash or gift-card payments.
Remaining Verification Gate
The reviewed current official RFP page and FAQ do not state a mandatory applicant match or cost-share percentage. Atlas will not infer that this means no match is required. Confirm the match/cost-share position with the controlling issuer materials before publication, applicant-specific CRM production, grant package production, or ORIGINAL outreach. No amendment or addendum was identified on the current official opportunity page during this verification.
