Opportunity Overview
The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) Supportive Services for Registered Apprentices Grant is a Minnesota-administered federal pass-through opportunity funded through the U.S. Department of Labor/Employment and Training Administration State Apprenticeship Expansion Formula Grant, Award 25A60AP000057. The program is intended to remove participation barriers for new and existing registered apprentices and improve apprenticeship retention and completion.
Funding and Deadline
DLI’s current program page and current funding announcement state that approximately $43,006 remained available as of June 2026 from an original grant-cycle amount of approximately $50,000. The maximum request is $4,999 per application. Applications are accepted until April 30, 2027 at 4:00 p.m. or until funds are depleted, whichever occurs first. The current official materials reviewed do not state a deadline time zone.
The current funding announcement states that grant periods may run for up to 15 months from full execution, while all grant funds must be expended by June 30, 2027. Atlas records those controlling statements without attempting to reconcile the practical duration for later awards.
Eligibility Verification Hold
The current DLI live program page and current funding announcement identify Registered Apprenticeship Programs in Minnesota that are in good standing with DLI as eligible applicants. However, DLI’s May 18, 2026 FAQ also states that community-based organizations and other nonprofit entities equipped to provide services to registered apprentices may apply. Because those current official DLI materials conflict, Atlas will not broaden applicant eligibility beyond the current live page/funding announcement unless DLI resolves the discrepancy.
Allowable Supportive Services
The current funding announcement lists examples including tools and equipment; transportation assistance such as gas cards and bus passes; childcare up to $1,500 per apprentice; work clothing and uniforms; work-related tests, licenses and fees; union fees; GED assistance; and emergency assistance up to $1,000 per apprentice. Support not directly tied to apprenticeship participation, fines and tickets, and wage reimbursement are not allowable under the current announcement. The FAQ further states that apprentice wages are not allowable.
Application and Compliance
DLI links a current application, funding announcement, FAQ and grant definitions from the live program page. The current application DOCX could not be fully retrieved and inspected during this verification cycle. The current public materials reviewed also do not expressly state a match or cost-share requirement. Atlas therefore treats match/cost-share, the complete required application fields/attachments, and the final controlling submission mechanics as unresolved until the current application is directly reviewed or DLI provides authoritative clarification.
The FAQ states that recipients need a Minnesota SWIFT vendor account before a contract can be executed and that a Unique Entity Identifier is required for the federal funding. It also states that course or curriculum materials created with grant funds must comply with the specified Creative Commons licensing requirement.
Atlas Assessment
Verification status: Pending. Atlas Opportunity Score is held at 0 until the eligibility conflict, match/cost-share treatment and complete current application requirements are resolved. N9+ Fit is held at 0/100 and QC Healthcare Fit is held at 0/100 at the opportunity level. Although tools and equipment can be allowable supportive-service costs, Atlas will not infer or introduce an N9+ pathway without an applicant-specific, defensible need and confirmed current-cycle allowability.
No applicant-specific CRM, WorkDrive, Atlas_Email_Queue or customer-outreach action is authorized from this research record until eligibility is resolved, funds remain available, and all Minnesota ORIGINAL outreach gates and authoritative deduplication checks are cleared.
