The Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS) Foundation is accepting Fall 2026 grant applications for Michigan-based nonprofit health projects. The Foundation supports public and professional education, research, service, healthy lifestyles, disease prevention, diagnosis and cure, physician support, patient care improvement, and community-based health projects involving physicians and community leaders.
Deadline and Submission
The Fall application deadline is October 15, 2026. The controlling public application does not publish an exact closing time or time zone. Eligible Applicants and Requirements
Projects must be Michigan-based in origin and function, formally established or institutionally based, nonprofit, nongovernmental, nonreligious, nonpolitical, and nondiscriminatory. The project must address education, research, or service in health and provide value to Michigan. Every application must include at least one MSMS physician member involved in or sponsoring the grant activity. Applicants must provide an IRS determination letter, organizational history and programs, board affiliations, operating budget, project budget, implementation plan, qualified project personnel, evaluation plan, and reporting capability.
Funding and Cost Structure
The public application does not state a universal award maximum or total Fall-cycle funding pool. It says Foundation grants are often supplementary or complementary to other funding. The required budget template expressly includes salaries, consultant and professional fees, travel, equipment, supplies, evaluation, marketing, rent, utilities, maintenance, and other project costs, with separate fields for the amount requested from the Foundation and total project expenses. MSMS Foundation’s November 2025 grant awards included support for Love in Action Free Health Center to replace and expand critical diagnostic equipment for on-site cardiac and lipid testing. This provides first-party evidence that health-related diagnostic equipment can fit MSMS Foundation grantmaking when tied to an eligible nonprofit health project. It does not pre-approve any specific technology, vendor, project, or cost.
