Opportunity Overview
The Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance (MIOCA) is accepting applications for the 2026 Geri Fournier Ovarian Cancer Research Grant. The program supports innovative ovarian cancer research conducted in Michigan by Michigan-based researchers. Proposals may be stand-alone projects or part of larger research efforts involving ovarian, peritoneal, or fallopian tube cancers.
Funding and Deadline
Individual proposals may request up to $50,000, with project activity supported for up to two years. Proposals must be postmarked or electronically received by September 18, 2026. MIOCA does not publish a closing clock time or time zone, so Atlas does not infer one.
Eligibility and Priorities
Awards are limited to projects conducted in Michigan by Michigan-based researchers. MIOCA will consider all qualifying research proposals, with special consideration for work that may improve early detection, treatment, quality of care or cure; benefit people currently living with ovarian cancer; generate preliminary data for larger national grants; support projects that might not otherwise be funded; or use innovative and creative approaches.
Application Requirements and Cost Rules
The application requires an abstract, one-paragraph project summary, research proposal, itemized direct-cost budget, principal investigator and co-investigator information and CVs, conflict-of-interest disclosure, a recommendation letter from the relevant institutional or departmental leader, a two-year project timeline, and review of similar studies. The core research proposal may not exceed six pages, although essential supporting information may be included in addenda. If Institutional Review Board approval is required, applicants must state whether it is pending or obtained. Partnerships must designate one lead institution responsible for the award, deliverables, reporting and financials.
MIOCA funds may not be used for indirect costs, principal or co-investigator salary replacement, travel expenses, or miscellaneous unitemized costs. Direct salary costs for laboratory support personnel are allowed. The published materials do not state a mandatory matching or cost-share requirement.
Submission
Electronic proposals are submitted to info@mioca.org and must be received by September 18, 2026. The application also permits mailed proposals that are postmarked by the deadline. Questions may be directed to the same email address.
Atlas Strategic Analysis
Atlas Opportunity Score: 82/100.
N9+ Fit Score: 15/100, highly conditional research pathway. The opportunity is strongly relevant to Michigan cancer research, but the published application does not specifically identify telehealth, remote examination technology, diagnostic devices, or equipment acquisition as a priority. A Nonagon N9+ device and platform role should be considered only if an investigator independently proposes a scientifically valid ovarian-cancer research protocol in which the technology is directly necessary, allowable as an itemized direct research cost, and supported by all required institutional and research approvals. Atlas should not force this fit. QC Healthcare does not have a verified direct role under the published requirements.
Dr. Miltie, LLC is not established as a direct eligible applicant. The appropriate applicant is a Michigan-based researcher or lead research institution. No direct-vendor solicitation is present.
Verification Notes
No solicitation number, exact closing time, deadline time zone, mandatory match, or separate addendum process is published in the controlling materials reviewed by Atlas. Funded proposals may not be changed after award; if partial funding is awarded, the recipient must apply the funds toward the submitted proposal.
