Opportunity Overview
Open now. The McPherson County Community Foundation (MCCF) accepts General Grant applications on an ongoing basis, with soft deadlines on the 15th of January, March, May, July, September, and November. Applicants must demonstrate that their program benefits residents of McPherson County, Kansas.
Funding and Deadline
The next General Grant cutoff is September 15, 2026 at noon. MCCF’s July 2, 2026 process update states that, beginning with the July 15 general-grant deadline, all applications must be submitted by noon on the deadline date. The Foundation does not separately state a time zone, so applicants should follow the online portal and current Foundation instructions.
MCCF does not publish a universal maximum award for its General Grant program. Its guidelines state that capital-campaign support is typically capped at $10,000. Recent general-grant awards show that non-capital health-related awards can exceed $10,000, including a $24,600 August 2026 award to the McPherson County Health Department for Recovery Court.
Who and What MCCF Funds
MCCF’s published General Grant guidelines focus on nonprofit organizations serving the McPherson area and expressly include Health Care and Mental Health among the Foundation’s funding areas. Recent published recipients also include local public entities and schools, including the McPherson County Health Department and USD 418, demonstrating active community-sector grantmaking.
Selection considerations include community impact, collaboration, board commitment, volunteer involvement, fiscal responsibility, potential matching or seed leverage, other funding sources, and sustainability. MCCF ordinarily does not support grants to individuals, travel for individuals or groups, lobbying or political purposes, discriminatory organizations, operating deficits, or retirement of debt. Nonprofit organizations or fiscal sponsors must provide a W-9 before receiving funds.
Atlas Assessment
Atlas Opportunity Score: 81/100. This is a credible recurring Kansas community-health funding lane with explicit Health Care and Mental Health priorities and recent evidence of substantive health-sector awards.
N9+ Fit Score: 45/100, conditional. The published rules do not specifically authorize telehealth platforms or remote-exam technology. Nonagon N9+ should be considered only where an eligible applicant has a documented community-health need, the proposed remote physical examination or telehealth-enabled clinical workflow directly advances that need, and the Foundation confirms the relevant device, platform, implementation, training, or service costs are allowable. QC Healthcare fit is similarly conditional and secondary.
Direct-vendor review: Dr. Miltie is not being advanced as the direct applicant. Any Dr. Miltie role should be vendor or partner support to an eligible local applicant after cost allowability and procurement requirements are confirmed.
Leading Kansas Applicant
The McPherson County Health Department is a realistic healthcare applicant lead. Its official mission centers on healthy behaviors, resident well-being, and environmental safety. MCCF has recently funded the department for Recovery Court and previously supported its family-planning access work. The official McPherson County WELL Core page identifies Shalei Shea, BSN, RN as Health Department Director and Health Officer and lists sshea@mcpcoks.us.
Recommended Next Action
Define a specific McPherson County health or mental-health project, confirm applicant and cost eligibility with MCCF, build a defensible project budget without assuming a universal award ceiling, document measurable community impact and sustainability, and submit through the MCCF grant portal by the September 15 noon cutoff.
