Opportunity Overview
The City of Boston Mayor’s Office of Returning Citizens is accepting applications for the FY2027 Returning Citizens Support Grant. The program supports organizations with a proven track record of reentry services and programs for formerly incarcerated Boston residents. The City’s official grant flyer states that awards are available up to $50,000.
Deadline
Applications are due September 22, 2026. The current Boston.gov guidance does not publish a cutoff time or time zone, so applicants should not assume an end-of-day deadline and should submit early.
Eligibility
Applicants must be a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization or have a nonprofit 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor. Applicants must be in good financial standing with the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office and the IRS, and in good standing with current or previous City grant reporting requirements. Programs must serve Boston returning citizens, services must be free to participants, and City-funded activity must take place in Boston and serve only Boston residents. A valid City of Boston Supplier/Vendor ID is required to receive an award.
Priority is given to organizations led by returning citizens, partnerships involving such organizations, and organizations with prior experience serving returning citizens. Applicants must demonstrate adequate staffing, experience, expertise, time, resources, a detailed program budget and timeline, and existing or planned relationships with other reentry service providers.
Eligible Program Areas
Published examples include case management, workforce development, housing assistance and stability, family reunification, community stability, food assistance, and economic independence. Applicants should use the City guidance and application portal as the controlling source for final program design.
Match, Forms, and Submission
The public Boston.gov guidance reviewed does not state a mandatory cost share or match and does not enumerate every required application form or attachment. Applicants should confirm those items directly in the City application portal before submission. Applications are submitted through the City-linked WizeHive application portal.
Reporting
Award recipients must agree to site visits from City representatives as needed and submit a final report no later than July 16, 2027.

Atlas Fit Analysis
Atlas Opportunity Score: 76/100. This is qualified Massachusetts community-organization funding under the current Massachusetts lane scope. N9+ Fit Score: 0/100. QC Healthcare Fit: 0/100. Dr. Miltie direct-applicant fit: 0/100. The published program is centered on nonprofit reentry and integration services and does not establish a legitimate N9+ or QC Healthcare role. Atlas should not force a technology or healthcare fit.
Because the official source publishes only the September 22, 2026 date and does not publish an exact cutoff time or time zone, the Massachusetts lane must not initiate new cold ORIGINAL outreach for this cycle. That ambiguity does not prevent publication of the verified opportunity itself.
