Maine DOE National Board Certification Scholarship Fund 2026-27
The Maine Department of Education is accepting 2026-27 scholarship requests from eligible Maine school entities on behalf of teachers pursuing National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification.
Funding
Maine DOE states that $75,000 is allocated to the scholarship fund for the current fiscal year. The Department may reimburse an amount equal to the cost of the certification program, less any other funds received by the applicant, for no more than 30 teachers. Maine DOE does not publish a fixed maximum award per School Administrative Unit or other eligible requesting entity.
Deadline
The application window is August 14 through October 15, 2026. The controlling Maine DOE page does not publish a cutoff time or time zone, so Atlas does not infer one.
Eligible requesting entities
A School Administrative Unit, publicly supported secondary school, Education Service Center under Chapter 123, or CTE Region may request scholarship funds on behalf of an eligible teacher.
Teacher eligibility
The school entity must certify that the teacher is currently employed by an eligible school entity, has completed at least three years of teaching in Maine, has agreed to mentor at least one other Maine teacher through the National Board certification process, has documentation of acceptance into the certification program, has or will provide proof of purchase for eligible components, and has disclosed any other funds received toward certification costs.
Eligible and ineligible certification costs
The scholarship supports first attempts for National Board Components 1 through 4. Funds may not be used for retakes, renewals, or Maintenance of Certification. The scholarship is a reimbursement for tuition rather than a salary supplement.
Application mechanics
The requesting school entity completes the Maine DOE scholarship application form. The superintendent or director then receives an email requesting certification. Supporting eligibility documentation must be retained by the school entity and made available upon request.
Atlas assessment
Atlas Opportunity Score: 55/100. This is a current statewide Maine education funding opportunity with a clearly defined statutory purpose and eligibility framework. Maine DOE publishes an October 15, 2026 deadline but does not publish a closing clock time or time zone, so Atlas does not infer one. Publication is separate from applicant outreach; any applicant-specific action requiring an exact 48-hour cutoff must remain fail-closed unless the controlling deadline time is authoritatively resolved.
N9+ Fit Score: 0/100. There is no legitimate role for the Nonagon N9+ device and platform because eligible costs are restricted to National Board certification expenses.
QC Healthcare / Dr. Miltie direct-vendor fit: 0/100. This is not a healthcare technology procurement or grant-services opportunity.
