The Kodiak Community Foundation 2026 Competitive Grant Cycle, an affiliate program of The Alaska Community Foundation, supports charitable organizations and programs serving the Kodiak Archipelago. The 2026 guidelines identify health and wellness, education, the great outdoors, arts and culture, and community development among the broad community needs that may be supported.
Funding: Average awards are $1,000 to $3,000, although awards may be higher or lower depending on the request. The 2026 guidelines do not state a fixed total funding pool.
Deadline: September 18, 2026 at 5:00 PM AKST. The application period opened August 17, 2026.
Eligibility: Eligible applicants include qualifying 501(c)(3) public charities with 509(a)(1), 509(a)(2), or 509(a)(3) public-charity status, faith-based organizations providing social services, federally recognized Tribes or Tribal nonprofit organizations, and city governments or boroughs. Individuals, state or federal agencies, for-profit organizations or businesses, certain private nonprofits, and non-Alaska-based organizations are ineligible. Fiscal sponsorship may allow an otherwise ineligible organization to pursue a project when a qualified sponsor accepts legal and fiscal responsibility and supplies the required sponsor letter.
Application: Applicants apply through The Alaska Community Foundation’s online grant-management system. Required application information includes the requested amount, project description and population served, expected impact, project budget and budget narrative, organizational background, and organizational budget.
Match and cost share: The 2026 guidelines reviewed by Atlas do not state a mandatory match or cost-share requirement. They also do not provide a detailed line-item list of allowable or prohibited project costs beyond the published eligibility and funding-guideline restrictions, so applicants should confirm unusual equipment, technology, capital, or vendor costs with program staff before committing them to a budget.
Program contact: Julia Ssessanga, Program Manager, jssessanga@alaskacf.org. Eligibility and grant-system questions may also be directed to The Alaska Community Foundation Affiliate Program Staff at affiliate@alaskacf.org or 907-334-6700.
Atlas fit: This is a legitimate community-health and education funding vehicle, but the typical award size is small and the guidelines do not expressly identify telehealth, remote examination equipment, or medical technology as allowable costs. Atlas therefore scores N9+ fit conservatively and does not recommend forcing a technology purchase into the grant. Dr. Miltie, LLC is not an eligible direct applicant because for-profit businesses are expressly excluded. Potential healthcare-oriented applicants include eligible Kodiak-area nonprofits and Tribal organizations with a narrowly scoped local health or wellness project.
