Opportunity Overview
United Way of Greater Kansas City has opened its 2027 Impact 100 grant cycle for qualifying health and human-service nonprofits across its seven-county Kansas City service area. This Atlas listing is scoped to Kansas organizations serving Johnson, Miami or Wyandotte counties.
Funding and Deadlines
Impact 100 provides one-year unrestricted funding to selected nonprofit organizations. United Way does not publish a fixed per-organization award amount or applicant maximum in the current public materials; award size varies based on application review scores, organizational need, budget and funding health, mission focus, community need and portfolio balance.
The official 2027 application window is September 14 through October 16, 2026 at 11:59 PM. The official event listing does not state a time zone for the October 16 closing time, so Atlas does not infer one. For agencies using the eligibility-screening pathway, the official screening form requires submission by October 14, 2026 at 11:59 PM CST.
Who Can Apply
Applicants must be registered 501(c)(3) organizations in good standing, serve people within United Way’s service area, and align with its health and human-service focus. The current eligibility form requires at least one year of service, an accounting system and periodic financial statements, and service in at least one eligible county. In Kansas, the eligible counties are Johnson, Miami and Wyandotte.
The screening form identifies several organization types outside the core funding focus, including K-12 school districts and foundations, charter and private schools, colleges and universities; medical-research organizations that do not provide direct healthcare services; grantmaking or scholarship organizations; and certain religious organizations that do not provide qualifying health and human services. Youth-serving 501(c)(3) nonprofits may still fit when they satisfy the stated requirements and are not excluded school entities.
Impact Areas
Current priorities include health access and equity, nutrition and food security, maternal and child health, disease awareness and prevention, mental health support, substance misuse recovery and prevention, family engagement, literacy, college and career readiness, in-school and out-of-school learning, childcare and early childhood education, workforce and financial stability, housing, emergency response and other community-resiliency needs.
Application Pathway and Required Information
United Way’s main Impact 100 page states that organizations that applied within the past three years should receive direct portal access. Organizations outside that pathway are directed to complete the eligibility screening form. The screening form itself says it is for agencies that have not applied in the last two years, creating a one-year wording discrepancy between the two current official pages. Organizations whose status is uncertain should use the official contact listed by United Way before relying on a portal-access assumption.
The screening form requires the organization’s EIN, legal and operating names, address, contact information, confirmation of 501(c)(3) status, financial-system readiness, eligible-county service, at least one year of service, and mission-screening responses. It also states that the applicant’s most recent financials will be required with the funding proposal. The complete proposal is portal-gated, so applicants should recheck the current portal for any additional forms, attachments or certifications before submission. The current public materials reviewed do not publish a formal match or cost-share requirement; Atlas therefore does not assume either one.
Atlas Analysis
Atlas Opportunity Score: 84/100. This is a strong fit for eligible Kansas health and human-service nonprofits because the funding is unrestricted and the program expressly prioritizes health access, maternal and child health, behavioral health, substance-use recovery, nutrition and related community needs.
N9+ Fit: 25/100 conditional. The current opportunity does not establish a medical-device, telehealth or connected-examination priority. The Nonagon N9+ device and platform should only be considered later if an eligible nonprofit independently identifies a legitimate mission-aligned use for remote physical examination, vitals or telehealth-enabled clinical encounters and the unrestricted award can properly support that need. Initial Atlas outreach must not introduce N9+.
QC Healthcare Fit: 20/100 conditional. This is not a direct-vendor procurement and no vendor role is created by the published grant structure. Any later vendor participation must arise from a recipient’s independently validated implementation need.
Next Action
Eligible Kansas nonprofits should confirm 501(c)(3) good standing, service in Johnson, Miami or Wyandotte County, at least one year of service, financial-document readiness and alignment with United Way’s health and human-service priorities. New or uncertain applicants should complete the eligibility pathway by October 14, 2026 at 11:59 PM CST and then follow the portal instructions for the October 16 application close.
