Opportunity Overview
The Episcopal Community Foundation for Middle and North Georgia (ECF) Spring 2027 Grant Cycle is currently accepting Letters of Intent for projects serving people experiencing poverty and oppression in Middle and North Georgia. ECF supports one-time investments that create lasting impact, including capacity-building projects, capital needs, and new or expanding programs.
Current Deadline and Process
Letter of Intent deadline: September 30, 2026. For nonprofit applicants, the required parish Statement of Support is also due September 30, 2026. ECF’s controlling public page does not publish an exact closing time or time zone, so Atlas does not infer one.
A conversation with ECF’s Executive Director is required before beginning the LOI process. Applicants invited to Phase II are expected to be notified by November 15, 2026, and invited applications are due December 31, 2026.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants are Episcopal parishes or worshiping communities in the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta that satisfy ECF’s current parish requirements, or registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations (or organizations with a qualifying fiscal agent) that have a substantial partnership with an eligible Episcopal parish. Projects must serve local communities in Middle and North Georgia.
ECF particularly supports ministries addressing hunger, homelessness, generational poverty, refugees and immigrants, human trafficking, and people impacted by the criminal justice system. First-time applicants receive priority. Prior grantees are subject to reapplication waiting periods, including a 12-month period after an approved final report and an 18-month parish-community funding interval.
Healthcare and Human Services Relevance
The cycle is relevant to qualifying Georgia health and human-services nonprofits when a project directly serves people experiencing poverty or oppression and is built around a substantial Episcopal parish partnership. ECF’s prior grantmaking includes a capital award to Community Helping Place, in partnership with St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church in Dahlonega, to purchase and outfit a mobile medical clinic, establishing a direct precedent for healthcare-access capital support.
Applicant maximum: No universal maximum award amount is published on the current grant-cycle page. ECF reports an average grant of $26,287 in 2025, but that historical average is not an applicant cap.
Current Application Materials and Controls
For the LOI stage, ECF requires proof of status through the current Annual Parochial Report for parish applicants or the nonprofit Tax Determination Letter, a Board of Directors or Vestry membership list, financial statements sufficient to show the applicant’s financial condition, a detailed itemized project budget with narrative, and typed authorizing names for the Organization Leader/Rector and Board Chair/Senior Warden. Nonprofit applicants must also have the separate Parish Statement of Support submitted by the partner parish on the same date as the LOI.
ECF states that it has not set specific limits on the amount requested or the timeframe for funding. The LOI and invited application instructions do not publish a mandatory match or cost-share percentage. The invited application expands the request into proposal detail, equity-impact analysis, a logic model, sustainability/financial information, board or vestry support, and strategic-planning information. Contractor, consultant, and quote-based costs require supporting backup.
Atlas Analysis
Atlas Opportunity Score: 84/100. Strong conditional fit for established Middle and North Georgia nonprofits addressing poverty-linked healthcare, homelessness, behavioral-health access, refugee health, or related human services, provided a qualifying Episcopal parish partnership is verified early.
N9+ Fit Score: 48/100, conditional. ECF supports capital needs and has funded a mobile medical clinic, so remote-exam or diagnostic equipment could be relevant within a properly scoped health-access project. Device allowability is not preapproved and would need to be confirmed for the applicant-specific request.
Dr. Miltie direct-applicant fit: 0/100. Dr. Miltie is not an eligible direct applicant under the published nonprofit/parish criteria.
Outreach Disposition
Publication does not authorize applicant outreach. The public controlling page does not publish an exact September 30 closing time or time zone, so new outreach remains held under Atlas’s exact-deadline send gate. Eligible organizations should first verify the Episcopal parish partnership, parish eligibility and prior-grant timing, and complete the required Executive Director conversation before beginning an LOI.
