Opportunity Overview
The Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation (KGBF) is accepting applications for the 2026-27 BRACE Grant Program. The program is funded through Georgia’s Solid Waste Trust Fund and supports community projects addressing litter, blight, illegal dumping, and code-enforcement needs on public property.
Funding
BRACE awards are available in fixed amounts of $2,500 or $5,000. Joint applications involving multiple eligible communities may request up to $10,000. The current official program page does not state a mandatory applicant match percentage or cost-share requirement; it does state that an overall project budget may exceed the BRACE award through in-kind or other funding sources.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants include Georgia local governments, public authorities, agencies, commissions, and institutions. Priority is given to communities with populations of 2,500 or fewer using the most recent U.S. Census Bureau Population and Housing Unit Estimates data. Nonprofit or private entities should not be treated as direct applicants unless the controlling 2026-27 guidance expressly allows them.
Eligible and Ineligible Costs
Projects must directly address litter, illegal dumping, blight, or code enforcement. Recycling and beautification components are allowable only when tied directly to those purposes. The official FAQ states that gifts, giveaways, prizes, awards, award ceremonies, recognition events, food and beverage, and salaries for employees not directly responsible for the covered issues may not be included in the BRACE budget.
Application and Deadline
The 2026-27 application period is open August 25 through October 23, 2026. KGBF directs applicants to submit through its official Submittable application. The live public program page reviewed on September 22, 2026 does not publish an exact October 23 closing clock time or deadline-specific time zone, so Atlas does not infer either.
Atlas Assessment
Atlas Opportunity Score: 70/100. The opportunity is current, Georgia-specific, easy to understand, and potentially useful for smaller municipalities and counties with documented litter, dumping, blight, or code-enforcement needs. The modest award size limits strategic value, and applicant-specific qualification still requires verification of current local-government status, project need, budget, responsible Contact, and all CRM/queue/send-history gates before ORIGINAL outreach.
N9+ Fit: 0/100. QC Healthcare Fit: 0/100. Do not force healthcare technology into this community-cleanup and code-enforcement program.
