FY2027–28 Volunteer Florida AmeriCorps State Competitive Program Grants. Volunteer Florida, Florida’s Governor-appointed State Service Commission, is accepting legitimate applicant-facing financial-assistance applications for Florida AmeriCorps programs. The application funds programs engaging AmeriCorps Volunteers in evidence-informed community service, including education, public and behavioral health, housing and economic opportunity, emergency/disaster preparedness, natural-resource conservation, veterans and families, and workforce preparation.

Who can apply: Eligible Florida-based nonprofit organizations and state or local government organizations, including qualifying schools and public agencies, that meet applicable federal eligibility requirements, demonstrate management capacity, maintain current SAM.gov registration and a Unique Entity Identifier, and can recruit and supervise AmeriCorps Volunteers. Volunteer Florida requires at least 20 AmeriCorps positions in the proposal, service members assigned in pairs at sites, and at least one full-time-equivalent staff position for program management. Applicants must provide an evidence-based/evidence-informed model and aligned performance measures. New applicants are limited to Cost Reimbursement funding unless Volunteer Florida has previously approved a Fixed Amount application.

Applicant funding: The current Volunteer Florida guidance does not publish one fixed total-dollar maximum per organization. For 2027 Cost Reimbursement and qualifying Fixed Amount applications the maximum federal request is $26,800 per Member Service Year (MSY), which is not a per-applicant grant cap and is not a promised award. One MSY is a full-time position serving at least 1,700 hours. Requested federal amounts depend on approved MSYs, allowable costs and applicant’s specific project. Cost Reimbursement applicants must supply a 24% applicant share of total program costs in the initial three-year funding period, subject to federal waiver rules and additional match increases for later funding cycles. Fixed Amount grants ordinarily have no formal match percentage but require extra resources to support service delivery.

Florida-specific requirements and spending: New program applicants must use an August 1, 2027 start date, with an expected first project year through July 31, 2028. The minimum full-time member living allowance is $20,954. Approved program budgets must include a required $7,500 Shared Services Technical Assistance Fee per organization, mandatory Volunteer Florida training costs, national service criminal-history screening and E-Verify, member/leader branded gear and at least one authorized member recruitment incentive. All budget line items require itemized calculations. Florida restricts allowable travel, meal/per-diem reimbursement and indirect costs; applicants must use the official guidance, including restrictions on meals and on federal administrative-cost recovery. No costs should be incurred in expectation of funding before a valid award.

Controlling deadline and submission: October 28, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) for both the federal eGrants application and Volunteer Florida Blackbaud Grantmaking supporting documents. Volunteer Florida does not require a Notice of Intent. New and recompeting applicants must supply the most recent audit including management letter/findings, provider assessment questionnaire, 60-day operating-capital certification, current consolidated financial statements and required evidence documentation; recompeting applicants may also need evaluation plans or reports. New applicants must also budget and document all state-specific program conditions. The later general AmeriCorps nationwide January 13, 2027 deadline does not extend Florida’s October 28 state commission deadline.
