Open now. The Delaware Community Foundation is accepting applications for its 2026 Capital Project Grants, a statewide program supporting eligible nonprofit facility acquisition, final stage design, construction, repair, renovation, rehabilitation, and other capital improvements.
Deadline and funding
The current DCF grants page states that the 2026 cycle opens September 14, 2026 and closes October 16, 2026. The live page does not publish a closing clock time or time zone, so Atlas does not invent one.
Grants are generally up to $20,000. DCF notes that larger grants may occasionally be made for projects of extraordinary merit at the committee’s discretion.
Eligibility and capital scope
Applicants must be qualifying 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations serving Delaware residents, subject to DCF’s general eligibility rules and the Capital Grant requirements. Prior DCF Capital Grant recipients must wait two complete grant cycles before reapplying; DCF states that October 2023 awardees are eligible again in October 2026.
Eligible capital work includes acquisition, final stage design, construction, repair, renovation, rehabilitation, and other capital improvements of nonprofit facilities. The current linked application and DCF general rules exclude items and applicants such as non 501(c)(3) organizations, ordinary office equipment and furniture, standard office expenses, software, computers and phones, sports clubs, leagues and facilities, public or tuition based educational institutions, certain fundraising entities supporting public programs, vehicles, endowments, annual campaigns, special events, debt reduction, and sectarian religious purposes. Community serving projects sponsored by religious organizations may still qualify under DCF’s rules.
Application requirements
The current linked application asks for the project narrative and use of funds, target population, community impact, mission alignment, project budget, estimates or quotes, other project funding, a financial statement, current operating budget, board list and affiliations, IRS determination letter, ACH or bank verification, and authorized signatures. No mandatory match or cost share was identified in the current live DCF page or the linked application reviewed by Atlas.
Applications are submitted through the DCF online grant portal. DCF also lists a Capital Grants workshop for September 28, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
Current form control
The live 2026 grants page currently links an application PDF labeled FY26 and printed September 4, 2025. Applicants should therefore confirm the current 2026 portal fields, required uploads, and certifications before final submission.
Atlas strategy
Atlas Opportunity Score: 84/100. This is a legitimate statewide capital funding opportunity for Delaware nonprofits with genuine facility needs, including nonprofit healthcare and community health organizations when the proposed project fits DCF’s capital rules.
N9+ Fit: 5/100. This program is primarily for facility capital work, while ordinary technology and office equipment are expressly restricted in the current materials. Atlas will not force the Nonagon N9+ device and platform into this opportunity.
Direct Dr. Miltie posture: not eligible as the grant applicant under DCF’s published nonprofit eligibility. Any future applicant pursuit should be organization led and based on a verified qualifying capital project.
Next action
Eligible Delaware nonprofits should confirm that their facility project and timing fit the current Capital Grant rules, review the live portal requirements, assemble the required financial, governance, tax, banking, and project budget documents, and submit before October 16, 2026.
