Opportunity Overview
The Colorado Health Foundation’s Building and Bridging Connections Funding is an invitation-only rolling opportunity that supports community-building efforts designed to strengthen social capital, build on existing community assets, and address health challenges and health equity within a specific Colorado community.
Funding and Timing
Grants typically range from $20,000 to $45,000 for project periods of 12 to 24 months. There is no formal application deadline. Interested organizations must first speak with a Colorado Health Foundation program officer and receive an invitation to apply. Once a solicited application is submitted, funding decisions are generally made within about 45 days.
The controlling public materials do not state a total program funding pool or a mandatory applicant match or cost-share requirement.
Eligibility and Community Fit
Potential applicants include Colorado community-based organizations, including informal groups working through an eligible fiscal sponsor, and local public agencies serving communities with low incomes or communities that historically have had less power or privilege. The Foundation’s general eligibility rules also include qualifying Colorado 501(c)(3) organizations and public agencies.
Competitive work must focus on a specific geographically defined community and demonstrate an existing authentic and trusting relationship with that community. The community should help shape and support the proposed work, with meaningful shared roles and responsibilities. The Foundation prioritizes work with groups that have historically been excluded, including communities of color, immigrants and refugees, people with disabilities, LGBTQ communities, and other groups facing context-specific inequities.
Important Restrictions
This opportunity is not a strong fit for an organization entering a community without established trust or for work that is primarily imposed from outside the community. Proposed activities should be mutually beneficial and rooted in existing community relationships rather than designed around an external organization’s agenda.
Submission Process
Organizations interested in this opportunity should first connect with a Colorado Health Foundation program officer to discuss alignment. Applications are accepted only after invitation through the Foundation’s grantee portal. The Foundation recommends establishing portal access approximately one week before submission. Building and Bridging Connections uses the Foundation’s Standard Application.
Atlas Analysis
Atlas Opportunity Score: 85/100. N9+ Fit Score: 0/100. QC Healthcare / Dr. Miltie direct-vendor fit: 0/100. This is a community-building and health-equity funding opportunity rather than a clinical-technology, telehealth, remote-examination, medical-device, or healthcare-services procurement. Atlas should not force N9+ or QC Healthcare into the funded scope. Applicant-side value is strongest for eligible Colorado organizations that already have authentic, community-led relationships and a qualifying place-based initiative.
