Atlas Analysis

Atlas Opportunity Score 84/100. N9+ Direct Vendor Fit 2/100. The program is highly relevant to pediatric obesity, diabetes prevention, nutrition, family wellness, provider referrals, and community health, but the controlling RFP expressly prohibits equipment purchases and communication devices and bars any single-item purchase above $499.99. No N9+ hardware, platform, or QC Healthcare pathway should be forced. Atlas value is strongest in identifying and supporting a qualified Lee/Chambers applicant with two-site implementation capacity, provider-referral affiliations, appropriate staffing, community partnerships, PRAPARE referral resources, and strong work-plan/budget readiness.

The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH), Bureau of Prevention, Promotion, and Support, is accepting proposals for its 2026 Family Healthy Weight – Childhood Obesity and Diabetes Prevention Program. ADPH intends to award up to $70,000 to one qualified organization to implement the Smart Moves™ family healthy-weight curriculum at two sites serving underserved and high-risk populations in Lee and/or Chambers Counties.

Eligible applicants include governmental agencies, universities, and nonprofit organizations with operations in at least one target county. Applicants must have an active UEI, be able to enter an ADPH grant agreement, be registered in Alabama’s eProcurement system, demonstrate relevant youth/family wellness experience, and maintain affiliations with medical providers who can refer eligible children ages 7–11 at or above the 85th weight percentile. The project includes family nutrition, physical activity, behavioral counseling, outreach, PRAPARE screening/referrals, data collection, and sustainability planning.

The controlling RFP expressly prohibits grant funds from purchasing equipment, including computers, cameras, video equipment, televisions, microcomputers, copiers/printers, and communication devices, and prohibits purchases of any single item over $499.99. Accordingly, Atlas does not identify a defensible N9+ equipment-vendor pathway for this opportunity. Applications must be emailed electronically to the ADPH contact specified in the RFP and received by September 10, 2026 at 3:00 PM Central Time. The grant period is scheduled to begin October 1, 2026 and end June 29, 2027.
