The Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) is accepting vendor submissions under RFI ALSDE 2026-05 for K-5 mathematics assessment systems, intervention resources, and summer math camp curricula. The RFI supports the Alabama Numeracy Act and is intended to help the Elementary Mathematics Task Force develop a recommended product list for Alabama school districts.
Deadline and submission
The controlling RFI states that all materials must be received by October 29, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. CDT. Vendors must send five hard copies of each proposal to the Alabama State Department of Education, Office of Mathematics Improvement, P305 Gordon Persons Building, 50 North Ripley Street, Montgomery, AL 36104, ATTN: Dr. Karen Anderson. Each proposal must include the completed rubric for the desired resource.
Vendor questions are due September 30, 2026. ALSDE anticipates responding to vendors by October 7, 2026. Questions are directed to OMI@alsde.edu.
What ALSDE is reviewing
Vendors may submit in one or more categories, but each category must be presented in a separate proposal document:
- Early Numeracy Screener
- Formative Benchmark Assessment
- Fractional Reasoning Screener
- Intervention Resource
- Summer Math Camp Curriculum
Submission materials include vendor contact information and qualifications, three product-user references, a cost overview, the applicable completed rubric, assessment-item or alignment evidence where required, professional-development information, accessibility and accommodations, reporting and progress-monitoring capabilities, assurances, and applicable security and privacy documentation. The RFI requires evidence of current SOC 2 Type II attestation and a signed privacy and regulatory compliance attestation addressing FERPA, COPPA, and other applicable requirements.
Funding and downstream purchasing
This RFI does not award a contract. Vendors selected through the review may be placed on an ALSDE-approved product list that is expected to remain in effect through July 1, 2032. Any resulting purchases would be contracts between local education agencies and their selected vendors.
ALSDE states that LEAs receive allocations at a rate of $6 per student for each applicable category for early numeracy screeners, formative benchmark assessments, fractional reasoning screeners, and intervention resources. Additional funding sources may support summer math camp curricula at the same rate. These figures are purchasing context rather than a vendor award ceiling, and funding remains dependent on legislative appropriations.
Material restrictions
ALSDE states that late, nonresponsive, or incomplete submissions may be rejected and that failure to meet stated non-negotiables prevents review. The RFI also states that references to Common Core Standards will result in immediate rejection. Product-specific requirements and evaluation rubrics in the controlling RFI govern.
