Hawaiʻi Women’s Legal Foundation 2026 Fall Grant Round

Funding: HWLF states that it typically awards micro-grants of $500 to $5,000. It prefers project-based requests or support that can help jump-start other funding rather than ordinary operating expenses. No total funding pool is published for this round.
Eligible applicants and priorities: The current application requires proof that the applicant is a public charity under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3). Priority is given to projects benefiting women and children in Hawaiʻi, and neighbor-island applications are encouraged. HWLF’s stated criteria include improving women’s and children’s access to the legal system, reducing child abuse, domestic violence and sexual abuse, increasing financial independence, and improving women’s and children’s health, education and welfare.
Application and required attachments
Applications are submitted by email to either HWLF Grant Co-Chair using the Foundation’s linked two-page application form. The form asks for the organization and contact information, IRS/tax status, proposed use and amount requested, project description, geography, beneficiaries, outcome measurement, future funding for ongoing work, and why the project is appropriate for HWLF support.
The application requires one copy of each of the following:
- current governing board and officers list;
- budget showing expenses and revenue for the proposed activity;
- the organization’s most recent financial statement or audit; and
- the IRS letter classifying the organization as a 501(c)(3) public charity.
The form also requires signatures from the Board President/Chair and the Chief Staff Person. The current 2026 grant page and linked application do not state a matching or cost-share requirement.
