South Arts FY2027 Professional Development Grants for Arts Organizations
The South Arts Professional Development Grants program supports organizational capacity through new conferences, workshops, staff/board learning, and related professional training for qualifying small Southern arts organizations. An applicant can request $250 to $1,000 toward up to 50% of eligible project expenses. This is financial assistance, not government procurement.
Application window and match
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis through April 30, 2027, while funds remain available. Submit at least 60 days before the proposed professional-development activity, which must take place between July 1, 2026 and June 30, 2027. A dollar-for-dollar cash match is required. At least $500 in total eligible project costs are needed for the minimum $250 request. No universal closing hour or time zone is published.
Eligibility
Applicants must be a qualifying 501(c)(3) arts organization, governmental arts organization, or eligible federally recognized tribal arts organization located in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, or Tennessee, with an annual operating budget of $500,000 or less and a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI). The professional-development opportunity must be new to the organization and advance its arts programming and stability. Non-arts organizations, individuals, for-profit businesses, fiscally sponsored applicants, and organizations outside the nine-state region cannot apply. Only one professional-development grant application per cycle is allowed.
Expenses and submission
Permitted expenses may include registration, eligible travel, training, workshops, and professional service fees for staff or board learning; programs previously attended and unsupported degree studies are not eligible. Apply via the South Arts Salesforce grant portal with program details, organizational history, proof of government status if applicable, and registration/invitation/training agreement as applicable. Award recipients must meet accessibility and federal compliance requirements. Funding is contingent on program availability.
