Funding opportunity
The International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT) opened its 2027 grant cycle on November 4, 2026. Research on donor-derived cell-free DNA, gene-expression profiling and molecular diagnostics to improve individualized immunosuppression, surveillance and long-term adult heart transplant outcomes. This is research financial assistance, not a procurement notice.
Individual applicant funding
Two separate awards up to $40,000 each for one year, one US-laboratory project and one outside-US-laboratory project; $80,000 is the combined maximum for both awards, not a per-applicant award.
Application timeline and status
The funder’s November 4, 2026 cycle-wide announcement lists January 20, 2027 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time as the submission deadline. The separate detailed program page currently states January 19 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. These official pages conflict: applicants should confirm the deadline directly with ISHLT and plan for the earlier January 19 cutoff unless the funder clarifies. The official 2027 online portal lists this grant as accepting applications, but the member-authenticated application questionnaire has not been independently inspected.
Eligibility and restrictions
Researchers with an academic or clinical appointment, or qualifying trainees at accredited institutions; trainee faculty/commitment conditions, ISHLT membership, and conflict-of-interest requirements apply. Program page still refers to September 30 for membership applications, so current-cycle eligibility timing must be confirmed with the funder.
Researcher and staff salary, statistical support, equipment/supplies, materials, animals, publication and related presentation travel; up to 10% overhead. Grants paid to institutions in installments and subject to progress reports.
How to apply
Review the official program criteria and restrictions and the official 2027 ISHLT grant application portal. Applicants need to sign in using their ISHLT account; verify current membership, institutional support, budget and submission requirements in the portal.
