Florida Breast Cancer Foundation — 2027 Scientific Research Pilot Grants
The Florida Breast Cancer Foundation (FBCF) has opened its 2027 scientific research grant competition for one-year breast cancer pilot research projects conducted in Florida. A required Letter of Intent is due December 11, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., and the full proposal deadline is February 12, 2027, at 5:00 p.m. The foundation does not expressly give a time zone in the posted deadlines. Proposed grant periods run July 1, 2027 through June 30, 2028.
Funding. Individual projects may request up to $100,000 for one year, including indirect costs of no more than 20 percent; patient-care and equipment costs are excluded from the indirect-cost calculation. The $15 million-plus historic total invested in foundation research and education is not a current funding pool or individual award. No required applicant cash match or standard reimbursement mechanism is specified in the published program guidance.
Eligibility. Eligible applicants include Florida-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit community organizations, Florida governmental entities, tax-exempt educational institutions based in Florida, and Indian tribes within Florida. Nonprofits registered outside Florida may apply when they maintain a fully operating, year-round physical Florida presence. All grant-funded activities, collaborative work, and expenditures must occur in Florida. Organizations with prior or active FBCF awards must be current on contractual and reporting obligations, and an open scientific award must be due to finish by the end of its term.
Research focus. Proposals must address at least one priority: basic, clinical or translational breast cancer research; environmental relationships; epidemiology and outcomes; psycho-immunologic mechanisms; or innovative, transformative research ideas. Special emphasis includes vulnerable populations, comorbidities and adverse effects, novel targets, cancer immunotherapy, and genetic screening or risk assessment. First-time applicants and integrated multidisciplinary teams receive preference.
Restrictions and budget. FBCF limits grants to one year and $100,000 including the permitted indirect costs, with salary calculations using the current NIH salary cap. Applicants must comply with past FBCF awards and the stated organizational integrity requirements. Funds may not support research work or spending outside Florida. Final allowable expenditure details and any additional program rules in the live application should be reviewed before applying.
Application. Submit the required LOI electronically through ProposalCentral by December 11, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.; applications without a timely LOI will not be accepted. Then complete the full electronic application by February 12, 2027 at 5:00 p.m. Applicants must create or update a ProposalCentral professional profile and select the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation funding opportunity. The foundation’s Scientific Research page contains an apparent cross-program reference instructing applicants to select a Direct Services Grant; applicants should verify the correct scientific-research listing with the funder before submitting.
Source and application details. Review the current 2027 Scientific Research Grant instructions and application links at the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation’s official grant page. The public 2027 guidelines and schedule were checked November 4, 2026. The applicant-specific authenticated ProposalCentral questionnaire was not inspected, so additional electronic submission requirements may apply.
