New York NY BRICKS Round 2 — FY2027 Community Center Capital Grants

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP), through the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY), is accepting applications for Round 2 of the Building Recreational Infrastructure for Communities, Kids and Seniors (NY BRICKS) capital grant program. Applications opened November 2, 2026 and must be submitted before 3:00 p.m. EST on December 7, 2026 through the official DASNY Grants Application Portal.

Applicant-level funding and matching requirements

Eligible applicants may request $250,000 to $15,000,000 per award for eligible capital project costs. At least $75,000,000 is available to the statewide Round 2 competition; this is the overall program funding pool, not a per-applicant award. NY BRICKS can cover no more than 80% of eligible project capital costs, so applicants must document a minimum 20% matching contribution from other eligible, committed funding sources. Award funding is disbursed through the required grant agreement and documented reimbursement process rather than assumed to be upfront unrestricted cash.

Eligible organizations and facilities

Eligible direct applicants are New York counties, cities, towns, villages, Indian Nations, and prequalified New York not-for-profit entities that provide qualifying community centers. Nonprofit organizations must have approved Prequalified status in the New York Statewide Financial System (SFS) before applying; status merely showing In Review is not sufficient. Applicants need adequate property site control and authority to operate the community center and complete the project. A leased project location must meet the RFA’s long-term lease and owner-consent requirements.

Qualifying centers must have a primary community programming purpose, regular public hours and activities for youth, adults and/or older residents, including recreational, educational, cultural or social programming. The RFA excludes standalone facilities primarily functioning as a school, library, gym, daycare facility, house of worship, food pantry, or health care facility. Prior NY BRICKS awardees face additional Round 2 eligibility restrictions on completion or formal withdrawal of the earlier award.

What funds may and may not support

Eligible capital uses include design, construction, major renovation, modernization and equipping of community centers. The RFA excludes routine maintenance, minor repairs, staffing and other operating costs, rent or utilities, grant-writing and administrative fees, long-term debt repayment and purchase of real property. Grant funds cannot reimburse expenses incurred on or before April 1, 2026. Site-control documents, project budget, cost evidence and demonstrated match must satisfy the RFA and related appendices. Some tax-credit financing structures present additional restrictions.
