Additional Ventures 2027 Single Ventricle Research Fund: Career Development Track

Additional Ventures is accepting the 2027 Single Ventricle Research Fund letter-of-intent stage for mentored, early-career researchers working on foundational mechanisms of single ventricle heart disease. This is an applicant research award, not a consulting or vendor procurement notice.

Applicant funding and deadlines

Up to $300,000 in direct costs over three years is available for an individual Career Development Track grant. Indirect costs of up to 10 percent are provided in addition. The public 2027 program page does not specify a universal matching-funds obligation or overall program funding pool.

Letter of intent deadline: November 10, 2026, 5:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST). The controlling 2027 Request for Proposals confirms the closing hour. Full proposals are invitation-only, due February 2, 2027, 5:00 p.m. PST, following invitation decisions by December 15, 2026. Anticipated award funding begins July 1, 2027.

Eligibility and research fit

Eligible lead applicants are doctoral-level postdoctoral fellows or equivalent researchers in mentored, non-independent positions, normally within ten years of the terminal doctorate, with published exceptions for qualifying leave and other circumstances. The Career Development Track does not accept collaborative projects with multiple lead investigators, but the 2027 RFA permits one to five independent mentors or advisors as co-investigators. Applicants must be affiliated with qualifying nonprofit academic or research organizations, eligible universities or certain biomedical governmental research agencies in the United States or abroad. U.S. legal and sanctions restrictions apply.

Supported projects examine foundational biological, physiological or related mechanisms underlying complications and long-term outcomes of single ventricle heart disease. Priorities include multi-organ dysfunction, circulatory physiology, cardiac rhythm, liver and kidney perfusion, lymphatic and immune issues, and neurodevelopment. Clinical trials, stand-alone registries or biorepositories, and projects primarily pursuing device design or precommercial optimization do not qualify.
