Opportunity Overview
The Superior Health Foundation Q4 2026 U.P. Health Impact Grant supports transformational, health-centered projects serving communities across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. A required concept call or one-page concept paper is due September 3, 2026, followed by the full application deadline of September 9, 2026. The Foundation does not publish a submission clock time, so applicants should not assume end-of-day availability.
Funding
Most awards range from $5,000 to $75,000, and organizations may request one or two years of support. Requests above $75,000 may be considered only in exceptional circumstances and must be discussed and approved during the required concept call before submission.
Priority Areas
The Foundation prioritizes projects that strengthen the healthcare workforce, improve systemic access to healthcare, build community capacity to address health issues, or launch new projects, organizations, and collaborations. Applications are assessed on demonstrated need, anticipated health outcomes, beneficiary engagement, transformational service delivery, proof of concept, replicability, and collaboration.
Who Can Apply
Eligible applicants are tax-exempt organizations based in or working in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula to improve health outcomes. The Foundation gives preference to grassroots organizations, Tribal communities, and small and medium-sized nonprofits. The concept step is mandatory and is used to determine fit and provide the online application access code.
Atlas Strategic Analysis
Atlas Opportunity Score: 93/100. This is one of the strongest private-foundation health opportunities in the Upper Peninsula because it explicitly targets systemic access to care, workforce, community capacity, and transformational service delivery rather than narrowly defined disease programs.
N9+ Direct Vendor Fit: 87/100 — high, applicant-led. N9+ may be a material component of an eligible applicant’s rural access, mobile-health, maternal/child, chronic-care, or collaborative service model when connected remote examination is clearly tied to the project’s outcomes. The program does not favor large equipment purchases or capital projects, so the technology must be proportionate to and integrated into the service model rather than presented as the project itself. QC Healthcare should be included only if contracted clinical coverage is expressly allowable and necessary to the approved model.
Recommended Next Action
Complete the required concept step immediately, define the target population and measurable Upper Peninsula health-access problem, build the workplan and evaluation framework, prepare a detailed budget and narrative, obtain at least two letters of support, and submit the full application through the Superior Health Foundation portal by September 9, 2026.
