Current Opportunity
The Foundation for the Tri-State Community has scheduled its Fall 2026 Community Grant cycle for September 21 through October 30, 2026. Grants support projects that strengthen the Tri-State region through community innovation, quality-of-life improvements, and nonprofit organizational capacity.
Funding
Community Grant awards are available up to $10,000. Organizations may submit one application per funding cycle. Organizations funded through Community Grants must wait a full year before applying again.
Eligible Applicants and Geography
Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations, governmental entities, schools, and other charitable organizations that meet the Foundation’s grantmaking rules. Project activities must serve at least one county in the Foundation service area: Boyd or Greenup County, Kentucky; Cabell or Wayne County, West Virginia; or Lawrence County, Ohio.
Priority and Allowable Uses
The Community Innovation and Enhancement priority supports new or expanded programs, community amenities, partnerships, and innovative approaches to social, educational, health, environmental, or economic challenges. The Strengthen Organizational Capacity priority can support equipment that improves organizational efficiency or service delivery, planning, governance, training, data systems, operational improvements, and collaborative systems. This capacity priority is generally intended for organizations that have previously received Foundation funding and demonstrated sound stewardship.
Requests generally not eligible include fundraising events, general operating support, individual conference travel and lodging, major capital construction or renovation, ongoing salaries or employee benefits, operating deficits, payments to individuals, retroactive expenses, scholarships, and sectarian activities.
Deadline and Submission
The Fall 2026 deadline is October 30, 2026 at 5:00 PM. The current official page and guidelines do not publish a time zone. Applications use a three-step online form. The application guide requires organization and project information plus a project budget, current-year organization budget, organization history and mission, IRS determination letter, board list, most recent annual financial statements, and one to three letters of support compiled into one PDF.
Atlas Verification Hold
The opportunity, issuer, funding ceiling, eligibility, service geography, broad allowable and excluded uses, required application materials, online submission method, and October 30 deadline are verified. Applicant-specific ORIGINAL outreach remains on hold because the controlling source does not publish the deadline time zone. Atlas will not infer the time zone.
