Serve Kentucky, Kentucky’s Governor-appointed State Service Commission, has announced that the FY27 AmeriCorps State and National competition is current and that Kentucky-specific Request for Applications guidance will be posted by the end of September 2026.
Ownership: This is Kentucky-administered federal pass-through work for organizations proposing to operate an AmeriCorps program solely within Kentucky. Serve Kentucky states that single-state Kentucky applicants must follow the Serve Kentucky application process. National Direct and other direct federal AmeriCorps opportunities remain Federal-lane work.
Funding: Serve Kentucky states that it administers approximately $10 million to $13 million of AmeriCorps State funding in Kentucky each year through competitive and formula processes. A universal FY27 Kentucky per-applicant award amount or state competition pool has not yet been published in the Kentucky-specific guidance.
Current federal framework: AmeriCorps has opened the FY27 State and National competition. The federal competition deadline is January 13, 2027 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, but AmeriCorps expressly states that single-state applicants must apply through their state commission and that state commission deadlines may be significantly earlier. Accordingly, the federal deadline is not used as the Kentucky applicant deadline.
Program priorities relevant to Kentucky: Current federal priorities include service in rural communities and communities with concentrated poverty; youth mental health and substance-use recovery services; workforce pathways; veterans and military families; public safety; outdoor recreation and land stewardship; and strengthening families. Serve Kentucky states that AmeriCorps grants support organizations using evidence-based or evidence-informed service models to strengthen communities.
Eligibility and submission hold: Exact Kentucky FY27 applicant eligibility, award types, cost share, application attachments, state submission deadline, technical-assistance requirements and Serve Kentucky submission instructions must be taken from the forthcoming Kentucky RFA. Atlas will not infer those terms from prior-year Kentucky guidance.
Atlas analysis: Atlas Opportunity Score 82/100. Strong Kentucky statewide community-service and workforce potential, with meaningful rural, behavioral-health, substance-use-recovery and public-health workforce relevance. N9+ Fit is 0/100 because the current funding framework does not establish a defensible clinical-device procurement pathway. QC Healthcare Fit is 42/100 where a qualifying service model legitimately supports healthcare workforce, community health, behavioral health or recovery capacity.
Verification hold: Do not initiate applicant-specific ORIGINAL outreach until Serve Kentucky publishes the FY27 Kentucky RFA and Atlas verifies the Kentucky deadline, eligibility, match/cost share, forms, attachments and submission method.
