Georgia Department of Natural Resources is administering the 2026-2027 Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) cycle as a Georgia-administered federal pass-through program funded by the National Park Service. The current cycle supports acquisition, development, and renovation of public outdoor-recreation lands and facilities.
Funding and Match
Georgia DNR states that approximately $18 million is expected to be available for the 2026-2027 cycle. Applicants may request from $25,000 to $750,000. LWCF requires a 50% match, so the applicant must provide one dollar of eligible match for each grant dollar.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants include qualified local governments, constituted recreation authorities or commissions in good standing with LWCF, and state agencies. Only one LWCF application may be submitted per applicant during this cycle.
Deadline and Process
The online pre-application period opened August 3, 2026 and closes October 2, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. The official Georgia DNR materials reviewed do not state a deadline-specific time zone, so Atlas will not infer one. Following competitive review, successful pre-applicants are expected to be announced in December 2026 and invited to complete the formal application process for National Park Service submission in 2027.
Atlas Analysis
Atlas Opportunity Score: 82/100. This is a current, meaningful capital opportunity for eligible Georgia public entities with credible outdoor-recreation acquisition, development, or renovation projects and the required match. N9+ Fit Score: 0/100. QC Healthcare Fit: 0/100. The controlling program supports public outdoor recreation and does not establish a defensible healthcare technology, telehealth, remote-examination, or clinical-device pathway. N9+ should not be introduced or forced into this opportunity.
Verification hold: before applicant-specific outreach or package production, confirm the applicant’s current Qualified Local Government or recreation-authority status, LWCF good standing where applicable, specific project eligibility, match source, current pre-application forms and attachments, portal requirements, and all CRM original-outreach gates.
