Opportunity Overview
Kansas Tourism, a division of the Kansas Department of Commerce, is accepting applications for the 2026 Fall Attraction Development Grant. The program supports the creation of new tourism attractions and enhancements to existing Kansas attractions that can increase visitation, visitor spending, capital investment, and other measurable economic activity.
Funding and Deadline
Kansas Commerce announced $1,000,000 available for this round. Attraction Development Grant funds may cover up to 40% of total project cost; the applicant must provide at least 60% in leveraged assets. The application window opened August 17, 2026, and the current official program page lists a deadline of October 16, 2026. The current page does not publish an exact closing time or time zone, so Atlas does not infer either.
Eligible Applicants
Current Kansas Tourism guidance identifies eligible applicant classes including 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) nonprofit organizations, for-profit organizations, state and local governmental organizations, tribal organizations, and qualifying public or private nonprofit organizations or associations acting in cooperation with officials of a political subdivision. Existing attractions must be in good standing with Kansas Tourism programs and, where applicable, have a listing on TravelKS.com. Applicants that are not the primary destination marketing organization in their community must include a letter of support from the local DMO.
Eligible Project Scope
Eligible activities include new attraction construction, enhancement of an existing attraction, and new or enhanced attraction exhibits that improve the visitor experience. The program defines a tourist attraction broadly to include qualifying historic, cultural, scientific, educational, recreational, architecturally unique, scenic, and outdoor-recreation destinations with an accountable tie to the tourism marketplace.
Match and Leveraged Assets
The grant may provide no more than 40% of project cost. At least 60% must come from leveraged assets such as bank loans, bonds, sponsorships, federal grants, cash, or documented in-kind contributions. In-kind contributions may not exceed 50% of the applicant’s leveraged assets. Bookkeeping and organizational salaries do not qualify as in-kind contributions.
Required Application Materials
The current program page requires qualifying applicants to provide applicable Kansas Secretary of State good-standing documentation, a Kansas Department of Revenue tax-clearance certificate, a signed State Policy Regarding Sexual Harassment acknowledgment, a signed covered-technologies certification, a signed W-9 dated within the previous 12 months, and the program’s other required application materials. Requests above $100,000 also require the state’s Israeli Anti-Boycott form. Attachments must be uploaded through the application system.
Submission
Applications are submitted through the Kansas Commerce grant portal linked from the official Kansas Tourism program page. Kansas Tourism states that applicants using the new application management system for the first time must register before beginning the application.
Atlas Analysis
Atlas Opportunity Score: 40/100. N9+ Fit Score: 0/100. QC Healthcare Fit: 0/100. The controlling materials establish a tourism-attraction and economic-development program rather than a healthcare delivery, telehealth, clinical technology, medical equipment, or healthcare procurement opportunity. Atlas will not force N9+ or QC Healthcare into this program.
Direct Vendor Review
The program permits for-profit applicants, but the verified program purpose and eligible project scope do not establish a direct Dr. Miltie or QC Healthcare vendor opportunity. No direct vendor action is indicated.
