Opportunity Overview
The Community Foundation of Des Moines County 2026 Fall Large Impact Grant is open for qualified Des Moines County organizations. The Foundation states that its charitable work addresses a broad range of community needs, including health and human services, making this a relevant local funding opportunity for eligible healthcare, public-health, human-service and community organizations with a defensible Des Moines County project.
Funding and Deadline
The current 2026 grant page publishes an award range of $15,000 to $75,000. Applications opened September 1, 2026 and are due Friday, October 9, 2026 at midnight. The Foundation does not state a time zone for the midnight deadline, so applicants should not infer one and should submit early.
Eligibility
The Foundation makes grants only to Des Moines County 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and qualified governmental agencies. An IRS determination letter is required for nonprofit applicants, or a notarized form demonstrating qualified exempt governmental status for a Des Moines County governmental applicant. Only one project per organization will be considered.
Organizations that received a 2025 Fall Large Impact Grant must submit the required 2025 grant report by October 1, 2026, and the report must be on file before a new 2026 application is submitted.
Restrictions and Match
The current rules state that grants are not awarded for annual fundraising, organizational endowment funds, deficit financing, or grants to individuals. The Foundation does not state a mandatory applicant match or cost-share requirement in the current 2026 rules. Applicants should not assume an unlisted match requirement.
Submission
Applications and accompanying materials must be submitted through the Foundation’s online grant portal. The Foundation states that late applications will not be considered. Finalist interviews are expected during the week of November 9, 2026, with grant recipients expected to be notified in mid-November.
Atlas Analysis
Atlas Opportunity Score: 87/100. The opportunity has a meaningful local award range, a clear open cycle, broad community-benefit eligibility and explicit Foundation interest in health and human services. It is a strong fit for qualified Des Moines County nonprofits and governmental entities with organization-specific projects that can be supported by the Foundation’s rules.
N9+ Fit: conditional only. The current public rules do not expressly establish clinical technology, telehealth equipment or related procurement as allowable costs. N9+ should not be introduced in ordinary initial outreach and should be considered only if an eligible applicant identifies a legitimate project need and the Foundation confirms the proposed cost is allowable.
Next Action
Eligible Des Moines County organizations should confirm their 501(c)(3) or qualified governmental status, verify that any required prior grant report is on file, select a single qualifying project, prepare the required organizational documentation and submit through the online grant portal before the October 9 deadline.
