Opportunity Overview
The Community Foundation of Marquette County 2026 Basic Needs Grant Cycle supports organizations addressing urgent and foundational needs across Marquette County. The current official program page identifies food, clothing, critical essential items, transportation assistance, emergency shelter, transitional housing, homelessness prevention, and related safety-net services as priorities.
Funding
Applicants may request up to $10,000. Partial awards may be made based on project need, available funds, and proposal strength. The Foundation does not state the total 2026 Basic Needs cycle funding pool on the current public program page.
Deadline and Submission
The application was released September 1, 2026 and the official deadline is September 30, 2026. The current public program page does not publish a closing clock time or time zone, so Atlas does not infer one. Applications are submitted through the Community Foundation’s Grants Portal. New applicants must register and be approved by Foundation staff before accessing an application.
Eligibility and Geography
General Community Foundation eligibility includes 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, organizations with a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor, educational institutions, government entities, Tribal organizations, and religious organizations for non-religious purposes. Organizations must operate programs serving residents within Marquette County.
Funding Priorities and Allowable Uses
Current published priorities include immediate or chronic food insecurity, essential clothing, hygiene and household essentials, baby items, transportation assistance, safe shelter, emergency shelter, transitional housing, homelessness prevention, and safety or stability improvements for people without housing.
Published allowable costs may include food or meal-program costs, clothing purchases and storage, hygiene kits and diapers, household essentials, emergency shelter operations or upgrades, outreach and distribution costs, and personnel time directly tied to program implementation.
General Exclusions and Review
The Foundation’s current grantmaking guidance excludes grants to individuals, legislative or political purposes, sponsorships, loans, capital campaigns, and religious purposes. Review criteria include alignment with community needs, project clarity and feasibility, impact, budget strength, organizational capacity, completion within 12 months, sustainability where applicable, collaboration, service to underserved populations, and leveraged funding.
Verification Hold
The current public Grants Portal requires applicant login and does not expose the 2026 Basic Needs application questions, required uploads, certifications, cycle-specific forms, match or cost-share requirements, or a deadline clock time/time zone. Atlas therefore keeps this opportunity on Verification Hold. Do not publish, create applicant-specific CRM records, produce a grant package, or begin ORIGINAL outreach until those controlling details are authoritatively verified.
Atlas Fit Analysis
Formal Atlas, N9+, and QC Healthcare scoring is deferred while the opportunity remains on Verification Hold. The program has legitimate human-services and community-health relevance, but the current public materials do not establish a defensible N9+ or QC Healthcare role. Do not force product or service fit.
