Public Comment Opportunity — Not a Grant
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has released the Fall 2026 ICD-10-PCS Update Materials from the ICD-10 Coordination and Maintenance Committee and is accepting public comments on procedure-code proposals. This is a federal coding and payment-policy notice, not a grant, procurement, or applicant funding program.
Comment Deadlines
CMS states that comments on procedure-code topics being considered for an April 1, 2027 implementation date are due October 16, 2026. Comments on topics being considered for an October 1, 2027 implementation date are due November 13, 2026. The controlling CMS materials do not state a time zone for either deadline.
How to Submit Comments
Members of the public should send questions or comments on the procedure-code proposals to ICDProcedureCodeRequest@cms.hhs.gov by the applicable deadline. CMS states that it will post a question-and-answer document addressing clinical or coding questions submitted by the designated deadlines.
Technology-Relevant Procedure Code Topics
The Fall 2026 agenda includes multiple technology and digital-health topics, including computer-aided assessment of acute abdominopelvic pathology; computer-aided monitoring of urine output with diuretic and saline administration; insertion of a brain-computer-interface device; computer-aided detection and notification of whole-body positioning status using a wireless sensor; and monitoring of the peritoneal cavity using electrode sensors.
CMS marks several technology topics as associated with requestors that intend to pursue future New Technology Add-on Payment consideration. This does not mean CMS has approved the technology, established Medicare coverage, or created a general vendor funding opportunity.
Eligibility, Funding, and Match
There is no applicant eligibility class, award amount, applicant cap, or non-Federal match requirement because this is a public-comment process rather than a funding opportunity. Members of the public may comment on the procedure-code proposals.
Dr. Miltie / N9+ Direct Path
No direct Dr. Miltie vendor application or bid path is established by this notice. None of the reviewed procedure-code requests identifies Dr. Miltie or the Nonagon N9+ device and platform as the requestor. Any Dr. Miltie participation would therefore be limited to a legitimate substantive stakeholder comment on a specific coding proposal, if warranted, and should not be represented as an application for funding or as an N9+-specific coding request.
Atlas Analysis
This notice is relevant to Atlas because it includes emerging computer-aided, sensor-based, and connected medical technologies that may affect future inpatient procedure coding and, for some requestors, future NTAP strategy. It should be monitored for CMS responses, final code decisions, and subsequent payment-policy developments.
