The Burning Foundation is accepting Fall 2026 Letters of Interest for organizations in Oregon and Washington working on evidence-based teen pregnancy prevention. The Foundation expressly includes school-based health and education programs and community clinic programs providing information and services related to birth control, choice, and sex education.
Funding and deadline
Foundation grants range from $5,000 to $15,000. The Foundation reports approximately $650,000 in total grantmaking each year across its program areas. For the Fall cycle, the application portal opens September 1 and Letters of Interest are due on the last Friday of September, which is September 25, 2026. The official guidelines do not publish a closing clock time or time zone. Invited full proposals are due the first Wednesday of November.
Who can apply
Eligible applicants are 501(c)(3) organizations classified as public charities under Section 509(a)(1) or 509(a)(2) in Washington or Oregon that fit the Foundation’s stated areas of interest. Grants may support general operating expenses and/or special projects. The Foundation no longer accepts requests for multi-year support.
Teen pregnancy prevention program requirements
Projects must apply evidence-based techniques designed to reduce teen pregnancy. The Foundation identifies school-based health and education programs and community clinic programs providing information and services on birth control, choice, and sex education as examples. Each project must have its own project budget, work plan, and criteria for success.
Important exclusions
The Foundation does not support research projects or scholarships, and it excludes requests from schools, universities, and their fundraising affiliates. It also excludes land/property purchases and capital campaigns and lists additional program-specific exclusions in its current policies. If an organization’s LOI or proposal has been denied, the Foundation instructs the organization to wait one year before reapplying.
Application process
All applicants must first submit a Letter of Interest in the Foundation’s online portal. Applicants are notified whether they are invited to submit a full proposal at least two weeks before the full-proposal due date. Applications must be completed within the same cycle in which the LOI is submitted.
