Opportunity Overview
The Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment (AHW) is accepting applications for its MCW-Led Learning Event Support funding opportunity. The program supports Wisconsin-based learning events that build knowledge, skills, and networks among current and future Wisconsin health professionals, with an emphasis on people employed by or training through the Medical College of Wisconsin and its affiliates.
Funding and Deadline
Eligible projects may request up to $5,000 per learning event for direct, non-personnel, event-specific expenses. AHW makes up to $200,000 annually available for as many as 40 MCW-led learning events. Applications are accepted on a rolling, first-come, first-served basis while funds remain available. AHW requires applications approximately 60 days before the event; submissions later than 60 days before the event require AHW approval. No fixed closing clock time or time zone is published.
Eligible Applicants and Events
The host must be an eligible MCW principal investigator who is a full-time or full-professional-effort MCW faculty member at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank. The event must be held in Wisconsin, include an in-person learning component unless AHW approves otherwise, and primarily serve Wisconsin-based current or future health workforce participants. Events must define a health-workforce learning gap, learning objectives, and how participants will apply the knowledge or skills gained to advance health or health equity in Wisconsin.
Budget and Cost Rules
AHW uses a cost-reimbursement model. Allowable costs may include venue and audiovisual expenses, refreshments, speaker or consultant expenses and travel, printing, meeting supplies, and other direct event-specific costs approved by AHW. Funds may not support personnel salary or fringe, professional development solely for the host organization’s own employees, events outside Wisconsin, primarily political, lobbying, marketing, fundraising, networking, research or information-gathering activities, alcoholic beverages, projects already funded by an active AHW award, routine indirect operating costs, attendee scholarships or stipends, debt reduction, entertainment, reimbursement solely for patient care or clinical service delivery, general publishing costs, stipends or flat fees, or supplanting other available resources. The RFA does not state a mandatory matching percentage, but applicants must satisfy AHW’s non-supplanting requirements.
Application Requirements
Applications are submitted only through AHW’s online application form. Required application materials include the online event and applicant information, narrative responses within the form, the AHW budget workbook, budget justification, and non-supplanting attestation. No paper or emailed application is accepted, and applicants may not add attachments beyond those requested in the form. After technical review, required signatures are collected through an AHW-initiated DocuSign process and should be completed within three business days of the signature request.
