Opportunity Overview
The University of Alaska Anchorage Alaska AI Solutions Consortium, through UAA’s Rural AI Solutions & Engagement Project, is accepting community partner needs for the RAISE Mini Grants 2026-2027 Community Partner Call. The program supports applied artificial intelligence projects addressing problems in Alaska and is funded by the National Science Foundation under Award #2433241.
Funding
UAA describes the program as providing seed funding to encourage further research and collaboration. The controlling public page does not publish a per-project award amount, total funding pool, or mandatory match or cost-share requirement, so Atlas does not infer those terms.
Deadlines
Community Partner Statement of Need: September 21, 2026.
Full Proposal: October 7, 2026.
The controlling public page does not publish a closing clock time or time zone for either deadline. Award announcements are scheduled for November 2, 2026, with a project update or presentation due March 1, 2027 and final report due July 15, 2027.
Eligibility
The community partner may be an Alaskan organization outside the university, including large or small businesses, Alaska Native organizations, K-12 education organizations, government entities, nonprofits, and UA research centers, as stated on the controlling UAA page. Proposed work must identify an Alaska problem or need that can be addressed through applied AI research and collaboration with UAA.
Application Process
Community partners first submit a Statement of Need through UAA’s online form. UAA then matches the need with faculty who can facilitate the project, unless the partner is already working with a UAA faculty member. The community partner and faculty member develop the full proposal together, and the full proposal is submitted by UAA faculty.
Atlas Analysis
Atlas Opportunity Score: 84/100. This is a legitimate Alaska-controlled seed-funding and applied-research opportunity with statewide eligibility that includes K-12 organizations, Alaska Native organizations, governments, nonprofits, and businesses.
N9+ Fit Score: 35/100 conditional. A healthcare or school-health project could potentially involve the Nonagon N9+ device and platform only where remote examination or connected clinical data is genuinely central to a community-defined AI research problem and UAA faculty determine that approach is appropriate. The public call does not specifically fund telehealth, remote physical examination, medical devices, or clinical care, so Atlas should not force that fit.
Submission
Submit the Community Partner Statement of Need through the official UAA RAISE Mini Grants page by September 21, 2026. Full proposals are developed with and submitted by UAA faculty by October 7, 2026.
