A one year hiatus is required after an organization receives three consecutive years of Community Chest grant awards.
Eligible and Restricted Uses
The Community Chest considers program grants, general operating support, and seed grants for new programs. Capital equipment is generally not funded but may be considered case by case. The funder does not make grants for sectarian or religious activities, political or lobbying activities, deficits, direct support of individuals, annual or endowment campaigns, camperships or scholarships for academic or enrichment programs, sponsorships or fundraisers, capital campaigns, performances or one time events, or public and independent schools.
Application and Submission
Applications must be submitted through the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain’s online grant portal. The public guidelines do not publish a separate universal attachment checklist, so applicants should use the live portal as the controlling source for current questions and upload requirements. After review, staff may request additional information or arrange a conference or site visit. Final decisions are made by the Community Chest Board of Directors, and grantees are expected to provide progress reports as specified in the award letter.
