Opportunity Overview
GSK and Triangle Community Foundation are administering the 2026 GSK IMPACT Awards for the Triangle, the 30th anniversary of the program in the United States. The awards recognize nonprofit organizations making measurable contributions to healthier communities in the Triangle region.
Current application status: Step 1 registration closed July 24, 2026. Step 2 is currently open only to organizations whose registrations were approved. Approved registrants were invited by email to return to Triangle Community Foundation’s online portal and complete the full application.
Funding and Deadline
Award amount: $50,000 in unrestricted funding per recipient. Up to 10 organizations may receive awards.
Application deadline: September 24, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. The controlling source does not publish a time zone for this deadline, so Atlas does not infer one.
Match / cost share: No applicant match or cost-share requirement is stated. The award is unrestricted organizational funding. GSK funding may not exceed 50 percent of the organization’s annual total operating expenses for the applicable eligibility years.
Eligibility
Applicants must be independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations operating in at least one of Chatham, Durham, Orange, or Wake County, North Carolina. Annual gross revenue must be at least $100,000 and no more than $5 million in both fiscal year 2025 and fiscal year 2026.
Organizations must address at least one eligible community health factor: health promotion and harm reduction; housing and transportation; air, water and land; climate; civic and community resources; education; income, employment and wealth; or safety and social support. Applicants must also demonstrate the program’s IMPACT principles: Innovative, Measured, Partnered, Accountable, Community centered, and Transformative.
Important exclusions apply. An organization must not be a GSK customer or affiliate of a customer organization or institution. The controlling guidance specifically lists academic medical centers, foundations of customer organizations, clinics, home health or visiting nurse agencies, medical treatment centers, hospices, hospitals, payers, wholesalers, and retailers among the customer related exclusions. The Foundation further states that organizations engaged in healthcare delivery or facilitating access to healthcare are likely ineligible. Paid staff may not hold any of the healthcare professional credentials identified in the 2026 guidance. Prior GSK IMPACT Award winners from the last five years are also ineligible.
Required Application Documents
For organizations whose Step 1 registration was approved, the Step 2 application requires uploads including:
- 501(c)(3) IRS determination letter
- Signed W-9
- Board-approved budget for the previous fiscal year
- Board-approved budget for the current fiscal year
- Current fiscal year budget forecast
- Board of Trustees list including affiliations and degrees or credentials
- Paid staff chart or list including titles and degrees or credentials
Submission Mechanics
This is a two-step process. New registrations are no longer accepted. Triangle Community Foundation and GSK reviewed Step 1 registrations and invited approved organizations to submit the Step 2 application through the Foundation’s online grant portal. The full invited application must be completed by the September 24 deadline.
Atlas Fit Analysis
Atlas Opportunity Score: 78/100. This is a meaningful $50,000 unrestricted award for qualifying Triangle nonprofits with a clear community-health mission, but the current cycle is restricted to preapproved registrants and does not accept new entrants.
N9+ Fit Score: 0/100. Atlas does not identify a legitimate role for the Nonagon N9+ device and platform or QC Healthcare in this award. The program is organizational recognition and unrestricted support rather than a technology procurement, and the eligibility rules specifically restrict organizations engaged in healthcare delivery or access and organizations affiliated with GSK customers. Atlas will not force a device-centered or clinical-services fit.
Outreach Classification
Publish only for this cycle. Because Step 1 registration is closed and only preapproved registrants may complete Step 2, Atlas is not initiating cold applicant outreach. No direct-vendor role for Dr. Miltie or QC Healthcare is supported by the controlling guidance.
