SouthCoast Community Foundation is accepting applications for its 2026 Fall Grant Cycle Pilot, the second round in the Foundation’s new twice yearly grantmaking model for nonprofit organizations serving communities across the Massachusetts SouthCoast.
Deadline
Applications opened September 4, 2026 and close September 28, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. The Foundation’s public guidance does not separately publish a timezone.
Eligibility and geography
Applicants must be recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations or operate under the fiscal sponsorship of an eligible 501(c)(3). Organizations serving communities within the SouthCoast region may apply. Most funding is focused on Greater New Bedford, with some funding available more broadly across the SouthCoast. Organizations do not have to be headquartered in the community they serve, but applicants should demonstrate a meaningful presence, established relationships, or a clear history of serving the proposed population or geography.
Program areas
Eligible program areas include Basic Human Needs and Family Stability, Youth Development and Recreation, Education, Health and Wellness, Economic Self Sufficiency, Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment, Domestic Violence Services, and Arts and Culture.
Eligible funding types
The Fall cycle can support general operating expenses, programs or projects, capacity building, and capital needs. Capacity building may include technology, evaluation, systems improvement, organizational planning, and staff or board development. Capital support may include equipment and facility improvements that directly contribute to community service. ArtWeek SouthCoast event requests are separately capped at $2,000.
Funding amount
The Foundation states that non ArtWeek grants are generally expected to range from $5,000 to $25,000. Its current FAQ separately states that a funding range of $4,500 to $25,000 per request or proposal applies within the universal application. Applicants should follow the live application and any participating fund specific guidance for the controlling amount available to their proposal. Funding is limited and an award may be less than requested.
Match and payment
No mandatory applicant match or cost share is stated on the current public Fall Grant Cycle guidance reviewed by Atlas. The FAQ states that awards are distributed upon award rather than on a reimbursement basis. Applicants should still verify any fund specific conditions in the live portal before submitting.
Application mechanics
Applications are submitted through the SouthCoast Community Foundation online grants portal using the Fall cycle’s universal application. The Foundation uses the information supplied to align eligible proposals with participating funds. Applicants should review the live portal and current fund guidelines for all required fields, attachments, certifications, and proposal specific restrictions.
Atlas assessment
Atlas Opportunity Score: 89/100. N9+ Fit: 70/100 conditional. Health and Wellness is an explicit program area, and technology, systems improvement, and equipment are expressly eligible funding types. That creates a legitimate potential pathway for the Nonagon N9+ device and platform when a specific eligible nonprofit has a documented clinical or community health program need, but remote physical examination and telehealth technology are not named priorities and allowability should not be assumed without a project specific fit. Education relevance is also strong because Education is an explicit program area.
Dr. Miltie direct applicant fit: 0/100. The Fall cycle is limited to eligible nonprofits or qualifying fiscally sponsored applicants. Atlas should not initiate routine N9+ outreach unless a specific eligible SouthCoast organization and project establish a sufficiently strong, verifiable fit.
