Opportunity Overview
Open now. The Rice County Community Foundation is accepting applications for its 2026 Community Fund Grant cycle. The program supports charitable projects and programs benefiting Rice County communities, with competitive review based on charitable purpose, community benefit, project readiness, available funding, and the requirements of the applicable fund.
Funding and Deadline
The 2026 cycle opened August 10, 2026 and closes September 30, 2026 at 5:00 PM Central Time. Applications are accepted only through the Foundation’s online grant portal. The Foundation does not publish a universal 2026 maximum request amount or total cycle pool, and awards depend on available charitable funds, application quality, and fund restrictions.
Who Can Apply
Eligible applicants include IRS recognized 501(c)(3) organizations, government or public entities, educational institutions, and religious organizations, subject to Foundation due diligence. Every request requires an EIN or Tax ID. Organizations claiming 501(c)(3) status must provide an IRS determination letter, while eligible non 501(c)(3) entities must submit a completed W 9.
Application and Award Requirements
Applicants must use the Foundation’s required budget page and provide complete organization, project, financial, and contact information. A signed grant agreement is required before competitive grant funds are released. Final impact reporting is due within one year of award notification or within 30 days after project completion, whichever comes first.
Healthcare and Equipment Relevance
Recent official awards establish credible health and equipment precedent without establishing automatic allowability for any specific 2026 technology expense. In 2025, Rice County District Hospital Number 2 Sandstone received $3,000 for a vital signs monitor. Other recent awards include safety, technology, and public service equipment. Any proposed telehealth, remote examination, platform, implementation, training, or professional service expense should be confirmed with the Foundation before final budgeting.
Atlas Assessment
Atlas Opportunity Score: 76/100. This is a credible applicant led Kansas community funding opportunity with broad eligible applicant classes and direct historical healthcare equipment precedent. The absence of a universal current request ceiling and the broad competitive scope reduce certainty for a technology centered project.
N9+ Fit Score: 25/100 conditional. Dr. Miltie is not an eligible direct applicant under the published entity classes. A legitimate role for the Nonagon N9+ device and platform would require a verified eligible Rice County applicant, a documented clinical or community health need, a defensible project design, and confirmation that the proposed device, platform, implementation, training, and related costs are allowable under the applicable fund.
Recommended Next Action
Identify a specific eligible Rice County healthcare, school, public, or nonprofit applicant with a documented project need, confirm the correct community and fund fit, determine the requested amount, verify technology and service cost allowability, and submit through the online portal by the published deadline.
