Opportunity Overview
The Michigan Department of Treasury Fire Equipment Grant Program was established under Public Act 22 of 2025 to help eligible Michigan local governments purchase fire equipment for firefighters and qualifying fire gear. Treasury has a one time $8 million appropriation, with at least $4 million required for local governments with predominantly on call, part time, or volunteer fire departments.
Funding
Eligible local governments may receive up to $50,000. Awards may be lower than requested and can be prorated. Treasury prioritizes local governments that directly employ firefighters or have direct authority, supervision, or operational control of firefighters. There is no matching fund requirement.
Deadline and Submission
Applications must be submitted through the State of Michigan eSignature Solution no later than September 30, 2026. Treasury does not publish a closing clock time or time zone, so Atlas does not infer one.
The application must be signed and submitted by the local government’s Chief Administrative Officer or an authorized designee. A designee must upload the required signed delegation statement or letter.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants are Michigan cities, villages, townships, tribal governments, or authorities or commissions established by a county, village, city, or township by resolution, motion, or charter. Treasury’s FAQ states that a county itself is not eligible to apply for its fire department.
Eligible Costs and Reimbursement
Eligible expenditures include fire equipment for all firefighters, including full time and career firefighters. Fire gear reimbursement is limited to on call, part time, or volunteer firefighters. Allowable purchases made on or after October 1, 2025 may be reimbursed, and expenses must be incurred and paid no later than September 30, 2030. Treasury requires proof of expense and proof of payment for reimbursement.
Administration
The current materials reference the applicant’s SIGMA Vendor ID or SIGMA Address ID and the applicable Local Unit or Tribal Code. Treasury provides the relevant SIGMA and code resources on the official program page.
Atlas Fit Analysis
Atlas Opportunity Score: 70/100. This is a substantial statewide public safety grant with clear eligibility, no matching requirement, and a meaningful applicant ceiling, but it is narrowly focused on fire equipment and qualifying fire gear.
N9+ Fit Score: 0/100. The verified program purpose does not establish a legitimate role for the Nonagon N9+ device and platform, remote physical examination, telehealth, or clinical technology. QC Healthcare likewise has no substantiated role. Dr. Miltie, LLC is not an eligible prime applicant, and this is not a direct vendor solicitation.
