Required next actionCLOSED / HISTORICAL. The Fall 2026 Mini Grant round ended September 15, 2026 at noon. Do not publish as open, score as a current opportunity, initiate new applicant outreach, create applicant Deals for this round, or request an outreach-only deadline clarification. Retain this canonical record for historical intelligence and monitor only for a future Mini Grant cycle.

Broad Eligibility

Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations, government and Tribal organizations, churches, and education organizations including schools, school districts, and higher education institutions. A 1:1 cash and/or in-kind match is required. Prior or open MHC project grants can make an organization ineligible under the program rules.

Atlas Analysis

Historical closed opportunity; no current Atlas Opportunity Score is assigned. Maine Humanities Council's controlling Mini Grants page states the Fall 2026 application window was August 11 through September 15, 2026 and that applications close at noon. Although the page does not state a time zone, the closing date and time have now passed in all plausible U.S. time zones. N9+ Fit Score 0/100 and QC Healthcare/Dr. Miltie direct-vendor fit 0/100; the program is humanities-focused, requires matching support, and does not present a legitimate clinical-technology pathway.

Opportunity Overview

The Maine Humanities Council Mini Grants program provides up to $2,000 for smaller humanities programs and projects with broad public outreach across Maine. The current application round is open from August 11 through September 15, 2026.

Funding and Deadline

Maximum award: $2,000. Applications close September 15, 2026 at noon. Maine Humanities Council publishes the closing time but does not state a time zone on the controlling program page, so Atlas does not infer one.

A 1:1 match is required through cash, in-kind support, or a combination of both. At least 50% of total project costs must come from sources other than the Maine Humanities Council award.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants include organizations with 501(c)(3) status, government organizations including federally recognized Tribal governments or organizations and state, local, or city governments, churches, and education organizations including schools, school districts, and public or private institutions of higher education. Other eligible community applicants may use a fiscal sponsor. For-profit organizations are not eligible.

An organization with an open Maine Humanities Council project grant, an overdue final report, or a Major, Mini, or Arts & Humanities project grant received in the same or immediately preceding calendar year is not eligible for another project grant under the stated rules.

Project Requirements

Projects must place humanities content at the center, involve at least one topic expert, engage Maine audiences, include meaningful community involvement, and present a clear project design, timeline, and budget. Capital expenditures, construction, restoration, unrelated operating or overhead expenses, subawards, primarily travel projects, fundraising ventures, and projects without a Maine or humanities connection are ineligible.

Submission Mechanics

Applications are submitted through the Maine Humanities Council online application form. Applicants may preview the application before submission and may use the Save and Resume Later feature during the application period.

Atlas Assessment

Atlas Opportunity Score: withheld pending deadline verification. The controlling Maine Humanities Council page states September 15, 2026 at noon but does not state a time zone. The current round is inside the 48-hour new-outreach cutoff, so Atlas will not score, publish, or initiate new applicant outreach.

N9+ Fit Score: 0/100. The Nonagon N9+ device and platform does not have a legitimate role in this humanities grant. Capital expenditures are expressly ineligible and Atlas will not force a clinical-technology use case.

QC Healthcare Fit: 0/100. No legitimate QC Healthcare applicant, vendor, or project role was identified.

Next Action

Verification hold. Keep this opportunity in Draft because the controlling Maine Humanities Council page states September 15, 2026 at noon but does not state a time zone. The current round is inside the 48-hour new-outreach cutoff, so do not initiate new applicant outreach.
