Maine Redevelopment Lightning Stabilization Grant Spring Round 2027
The Maine Redevelopment Land Bank Authority is accepting applications for its FY2027 Lightning Stabilization Grant program. The program is intended to help Maine communities stabilize distressed properties they own before further deterioration makes productive reuse more difficult.
Funding
Grants are available for up to $25,000. No matching funds are required. Awards reimburse eligible stabilization work after completion.
Deadline
The Spring Round application deadline is March 31, 2027 at 5:00 PM. The controlling program materials do not state a time zone. Award letters are scheduled for April 15, 2027, and spring round work must be completed and invoiced by June 15, 2027. The guidelines state that out of cycle requests and extensions may be considered case by case.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants are municipalities, counties, or other units of local government that own the property. Private or nonprofit owners may be considered case by case when applying with the municipality as a co applicant. The property must qualify for Maine Redevelopment engagement and the applicant must attest that the property meets the applicable criteria.
Eligible Work
Examples include roofing, siding, window and door repair or replacement, foundation repair, brick repointing, and work needed to close the building envelope. The program focuses on stabilization rather than full rehabilitation or demolition.
Required Application Materials
Applicants must submit the digital application, available community surveys or public planning work demonstrating project readiness, current deed and property information, an itemized stabilization work list with contractor quotes, and a description of other public, private, or philanthropic funding expected to support the project when applicable.
Submission
An initial scoping call with Maine Redevelopment is optional. Applicants complete the program intake form and submit the required documents for review. Selected applicants receive an award letter, and after award and agreement execution provide a W 9 and ACH information. Completed work is invoiced to Maine Redevelopment.
