Opportunity Overview
The New Mexico State Fire Marshal Fire Grant Council is accepting applications for the New Mexico Fire Protection Grant. The Fire Grant Council page currently links the application as the FY 2027 Grant. The detailed application page still displays an older “FY26 Eligibility Requirements and Selection Criteria” heading, so Atlas preserves the current council designation while flagging that page-label inconsistency rather than rewriting the issuer’s materials.
Funding and Deadline
Applications are listed as open from July 15 through September 12, 2026. The controlling public pages do not publish an exact September 12 cutoff time or time zone, so Atlas does not infer one.
Maximum awards depend on project category: up to $600,000 for apparatus or new construction; up to $500,000 for major facility improvements or repairs, land acquisition, training facilities, qualifying infrastructure, SCBA or air-support systems, and 700 MHz-compatible communications; up to $250,000 for NFPA equipment, PPE, extractors, and other projects that positively affect ISO; and up to $25,000 for qualifying municipal or county volunteer stipend, recruitment, retention, or educational programs.
Eligibility
Individual Department Grants are open to fire departments currently certified and funded by the New Mexico State Fire Marshal’s Office that have a unique FDID. County administrative offices responsible for multiple departments may apply for a county-wide project when each district is compliant and the project benefits all departments. Only one grant application per jurisdiction may be submitted, and joint applications are not considered.
Match, Allowable Costs, and Required Materials
The public criteria do not state a fixed mandatory matching percentage. Project costs above the grant amount are the responsibility of the local government, and use of State Fire Funds for excess costs requires State Fire Marshal approval.
The application page requires a signed acknowledgement form and instructs applicants to use the application checklist. The Fire Chief and county or municipal fiscal agent must sign the application, and the fiscal agent must sign the commitment statement. Stipend, recruitment, retention, or educational-program requests also require an approved policy or program specification and a signed council or commission resolution.
Minimum eligibility conditions include a qualifying ISO inspection within the prescribed period, incident-reporting compliance, and required annual pump and hose testing. Critical-needs categories focus on ISO impact, water supply and distribution, fire apparatus and equipment, PPE, SCBA and air support, 700 MHz-compatible communications, and facility construction or improvements.
Submission Mechanics
Applications are submitted through the New Mexico State Fire Marshal Fire Grant Council’s online fire-services grant portal. Applicants should follow the portal and application checklist exactly and confirm any deadline-time question directly with the State Fire Marshal because the public page supplies only the September 12 date.
Atlas Analysis
N9+ Fit Score: 0/100. The published eligible project categories are fire apparatus, PPE, SCBA and air systems, communications, facilities, water infrastructure, ISO-related equipment, and limited volunteer-program costs. The public criteria do not establish a legitimate role for the Nonagon N9+ device and platform or QC Healthcare, so fit is not forced.
Atlas Opportunity Score: 58/100. This is a substantial statewide New Mexico emergency-services funding source with awards up to $600,000, but the current cycle closes September 12 and the exact cutoff time is not published. Dr. Miltie/QC Healthcare is classified No Bid as a direct applicant.
Outreach status: no cold outreach is authorized because fewer than 48 hours remain and the exact deadline time and time zone are not published.
