Opportunity Overview
Square Financial Services, administered by the Community Foundation of Utah, is accepting applications for the 2026 Community Impact Grant Program. The program supports Utah nonprofit organizations working in community development areas aligned with Square Financial Services’ Community Reinvestment Act priorities.
Funding and Deadline
The program will make twelve $5,000 Community Impact grants and three $10,000 signature awards, for a stated total of $90,000 across the fifteen awards. Completed applications are due Sunday, September 27, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. MT through the Community Foundation of Utah’s online grant portal.
Eligibility
Applicants must be public organizations with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, maintain a physical office in Utah, comply with the program’s nondiscrimination requirements, and participate in at least one eligible community development activity. The four published pillars are small business development, affordable housing, reentry support and entrepreneurship, and financial capability and wellness.
Evaluation
Applications are reviewed for organizational quality and strength, project innovativeness and effectiveness, potential Utah community impact, and alignment with Square Financial Services’ values and CRA pillars. Selected organizations are expected to be notified by December 31, 2026. The public program terms do not state a mandatory match or cost-share requirement.
Education Relevance
The financial capability and wellness pillar creates a legitimate pathway for Utah nonprofits that provide financial-literacy education, teacher resources, youth financial capability programming, or related community education. Historical awardees include Utah Jump$tart Coalition, Junior Achievement of Utah, and the Center for Financial Wellness, demonstrating that education-oriented financial capability work has previously aligned with the program.
Atlas Strategic Analysis
Atlas Opportunity Score: 72/100. This is a clear, currently open Utah nonprofit funding opportunity with a straightforward application window and credible education relevance, but award sizes are modest and the program is not healthcare-technology focused.
N9+ Fit Score: 0/100. The published CRA pillars do not establish a legitimate remote physical examination, telehealth, medical-device, or QC Healthcare pathway. Dr. Miltie direct pursuit is therefore not recommended.
Next Action
Eligible Utah 501(c)(3) organizations should confirm their physical Utah office, identify the relevant CRA pillar, prepare a concise impact case and organizational-strength narrative, and submit a complete application through the CFU portal before the September 27 deadline.
