Open now to eligible Nebraska schools and youth-serving organizations. KidsGardening and The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation are accepting applications for the 2027 GroMoreGood Grassroots Grant to start or expand youth gardens and greenspaces. The Nebraska Department of Education School Nutrition Programs grants page currently directs schools to KidsGardening grant opportunities.
Funding
In 2027, 120 programs will receive $750. Fifteen selected grantees will receive an additional $750 specialty award, bringing those awards to $1,500. KidsGardening states that a total of $100,000 will be awarded through the program.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, school districts, universities, government entities, and other tax-exempt organizations, including religious organizations and Tribal governments, in the United States or U.S. territories. Applicants must serve at least 15 youth, support or serve under-resourced communities, plan to install a new or improve an existing youth garden or greenspace, and have received less than $5,000 in grants for the garden program in 2026. Organizations that received any listed KidsGardening grant in 2025 or 2026 are not eligible.
Deadline and Required Materials
Applications are due Friday, February 5, 2027 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time. Required attachments include tax-exempt verification and current photos of the garden site. Optional materials include a garden sketch, land survey or scale map, site video, and letter of support.
