Welfare Foundation Fall 2026 Grant Cycle is open to qualifying nonprofit organizations in the Foundation’s geographic focus area, with the State of Delaware as its primary focus. The published Fall deadline is October 15, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST.
The Foundation states that approximately 90% of its dollars in a typical cycle support capital projects. Traditional focus sectors include Health/Hospitals, Social Services, Housing, Education, Environment, Civic, and Arts/Humanities. Program and capacity-building requests may also be considered but are the exception rather than the norm. The Foundation reports approximately $5 million in grants across its overall grantmaking each year, but the current public guidance does not publish a fixed per-applicant maximum for this Fall cycle.
Eligibility: applicants must have 501(c)(3) status and be within the geographic focus area. The Foundation does not provide routine repeat funding: an organization that previously received Welfare Foundation funding generally must wait at least three years before submitting another request, except that an emergency need may be discussed with Foundation staff. Current exclusions include funding that benefits political candidates/causes/campaigns, advocacy or lobbying, houses of worship, fundraising events, goodwill advertising/event programs, individual scholarships/sponsorships/financial aid, pass-through grants, travel, and books/magazines/professional-journal articles.
Required process: since 2025, a pre-application meeting with Foundation staff is mandatory. The applicant cannot access the online application without the code provided during that meeting, and the Foundation warns that meeting requests made within one week of the deadline may not be honored. Applications are submitted through the Foundation’s online grant system.
Application materials: organizational overview (founding date, mission, services, demographics); financial-health information including annual budget, prior-year income/expenses and assets/liabilities, and funding sources; project-specific budget and other secured/requested funders; Board of Directors and advisory-committee lists; IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter; and an independent CPA audit or review. No mandatory match or cost share is stated in the current public guidance.

Atlas assessment: Opportunity Score 94/100. N9+ Fit 76/100 conditional for an eligible Delaware healthcare nonprofit pursuing a genuine capital project where connected remote physical-examination technology or related clinical equipment is confirmed by the Foundation as an allowable capital expense. QC Healthcare Fit 35/100 conditional. Direct Dr. Miltie applicant fit 0/100 because the applicant must be a 501(c)(3); Dr. Miltie may only participate as an applicant-selected vendor/partner if permitted. Do not force a technology fit and do not assume equipment allowability without applicant and Foundation confirmation.
