Current 2026 Source Control
Verified open 2026 cycle. Current official Snowshoe Foundation 2026 Grants page controls this cycle and states requests up to $20,000 with applications due October 16, 2026. That page separately identifies the 2025 cycle as the prior $15,000 / October 11 cycle. A current social-feed post on the Foundation homepage repeats those prior-cycle figures, so Atlas treats the year-specific 2026 Grants page as controlling. The 2026 page does not publish a closing clock time or time zone, so new cold applicant outreach remains fail-closed unless the exact cutoff is independently verified.
Opportunity Overview
Open West Virginia community health and education funding opportunity. The Snowshoe Foundation’s 2026 Fall Grant Cycle accepts applications from eligible nonprofit and school organizations for projects benefiting Pocahontas, Randolph, or Webster counties. The Foundation’s current page states that the cycle opened September 1, 2026 and applications must be received by October 16, 2026. No formal solicitation number is published.
Funding
Applicants may request up to $20,000. The Foundation funds purchases of goods and services that can include construction, repairs, equipment, supplies, and programs when they advance an eligible charitable project.
Deadline
Applications must be received no later than Friday, October 16, 2026. The controlling source does not publish an exact clock time or time zone, so Atlas does not infer one. Award decisions are scheduled for December 2026.
Eligibility and Geography
Applicants must be nonprofit organizations with 501 status or school organizations. Proposed projects must benefit communities in Pocahontas, Randolph, or Webster County, West Virginia. The Foundation focuses on children, youth, and families while accepting projects in Health, Human Services, Education and Arts, Recreation, Culture, and Environment.
Application Requirements
The current online application requires organization information, organizational history and service geography, current annual operating budget, prior Snowshoe Foundation funding history, project name, amount requested, project timeframe, focus area, measurable goals and objectives, a detailed project budget, details of other requested funding, sustainability planning, alternatives if funding is denied or reduced, and collaboration/community-awareness information. Applicants must attach an audited financial statement when available; otherwise they must explain why one is unavailable and provide the most recent Form 990 or, for postcard filers, the 990 postcard plus a fiscal-year financial statement. A list of board members, CEO, key personnel and volunteers with titles and communities is also required.
Costs and Restrictions
The project budget may include categories such as equipment, materials, personnel and consultants. The Foundation does not fund projects that benefit a specific business or individual, retroactive requests, ongoing operational expenses, conferences/forums/workshops, or loans. The Foundation prefers innovative and collaborative projects, demonstrated community support, additional financial or in-kind support, capacity-building value, and feasible implementation. Previous grantees are asked to submit required final reports before applying for another grant.
Submission and Contacts
The current online grant application is the active submission method. After submission, the applicant should receive a confirmation email; the Foundation instructs applicants who do not receive confirmation to resubmit or contact the office. The current grants page identifies Dave Black, Executive Director, telephone 304-572-8500, as the program contact.
N9+ and Dr. Miltie Fit
N9+ Fit Score: 78/100, conditional. Health and Human Services are eligible focus areas and equipment is an expressly supported project cost category. That creates a credible pathway for an eligible rural-health or behavioral-health applicant to propose the Nonagon N9+ remote physical examination platform as part of a specific charitable telehealth, access, screening, or care-delivery project. The Foundation does not preapprove N9+, telehealth hardware, or any specific vendor, and its prohibition on private benefit means any vendor role must be applicant-led, project-justified, and consistent with the Foundation’s rules.
QC Healthcare Fit: 25/100 conditional. A service component may fit only where it is integral to an eligible applicant’s defined project and allowable under the final project budget. Dr. Miltie direct-applicant fit: 0/100 because the published eligible applicant classes are nonprofit organizations with 501 status and school organizations. Dr. Miltie’s legitimate role would be vendor or project partner to an eligible applicant.
Atlas Analysis
Atlas Opportunity Score: 94/100. This is a current, verified, West Virginia-specific opportunity with a practical equipment pathway, explicit health and human-services eligibility, a $20,000 request ceiling, and more than 48 hours remaining. The principal constraints are the modest award size, the absence of a published deadline clock time/time zone, and the need to confirm any prior-grant reporting obligations for a selected applicant.
Priority organization: Seneca Health Services, Inc. – Organization Opportunity Score 98/100. Seneca serves Pocahontas and Webster counties, operates rural behavioral-health and substance-use services for adults, children and adolescents, and uses telehealth in its service model. It therefore has strong geographic and mission alignment. Any actual application or N9+ inclusion must be based on Seneca’s own project need, budget, prior-grant status, and approvals.
Next Actions
Confirm the selected applicant’s 501/school status, eligible-county benefit, and completion of any prior Snowshoe Foundation reporting. Define an applicant-controlled project and budget, assemble financial/990 materials and board/key-personnel information, document measurable goals and sustainability, and submit through the current online form sufficiently before October 16, 2026 to verify receipt of the confirmation email.
