The Agnes M. Lindsay Trust provides grants to qualifying 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts and Vermont. Current priorities include health and welfare, dental/oral health, food security, homeless shelters and related services for people with special needs, older adults, children and families.
Funding and Deadline
Standard grant requests range from $1,000 to $7,500. The Trust does not publish a fixed standard deadline for these requests; proposals are reviewed monthly or more often as necessary.
Eligibility
Applicants must hold IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) status and be located in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire or Vermont. The Trust does not make grants directly to individuals. Its current site states that unsolicited requests from community colleges and four-year colleges or universities are not being accepted at this time.
Health and Dental Priorities
Health and welfare funding supports capital and operating projects for organizations serving people with special needs, including older adults, youth and families, and organizations providing mental-health and related human services. Dental funding may support free dental clinics and dental care serving low-income populations, including capital grants for dental equipment needs and program support. The Trust also supports homeless shelters and food banks/pantries through capital and operating grants.
Application Requirements
Organizations that have never applied must first send a letter of inquiry describing the mission, organizational history and programming, need for support, project budget if applicable, amount requested, other funding sources, Federal Tax ID, legal address, telephone/email, and contact name/title. Previously applying organizations may proceed directly to a full request.
A full proposal must include the required proposal-summary information, organizational narrative and need, complete audited financial statements for the last two years (2024-2025) or Forms 990, a capital-expenditure budget if applicable, estimates or quotes if available, and the IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter. The Trust states that proposals without financials will not be reviewed. Electronic submission is preferred at admin@lindsaytrust.org.
Other Controls
Grant recipients must submit a status report after awarded funds are expended. Grantees generally must wait one year from the date of an award before reapplying, except for campership requests. No mandatory match or cost-share requirement is published in the current standard grant guidance, and no separate vendor/procurement rule is stated beyond supporting capital budgets with estimates or quotes when available.
