Historic Community Buildings Grant Program Round 2 – Maine
The Maine Historic Preservation Commission has opened Round 2 of the Historic Community Buildings Grant Program for historic community buildings owned by eligible nonprofit and governmental organizations.
Funding
The minimum grant request is $25,000 and the maximum request is $500,000. Awards require a 25% match from private or nonprofit sources. Governmental money, including municipal funds, cannot be used for the required match.
Deadline
Applications must be received by October 23, 2026 at 5:00 PM. The controlling grant manual does not state a time zone. Applications are submitted through the Commission’s Microsoft Power Application.
Who may apply
Eligible applicants include nonprofit corporations and units of state, county, local or municipal government. The building must be listed in or nominated to the National Register of Historic Places, be open to the general public, and support the social, educational or cultural life of its community. Educational buildings can qualify.
Eligible work and readiness requirements
Round 2 is for preservation and restoration construction. Eligible work can include structural and building-envelope repairs, mechanical-system upgrades, life-safety work and accessibility improvements. Planning, research, assessments and production of drawings are not themselves eligible grant-funded activities. In most cases, drawings, specifications or bid documents from a Maine-licensed architect or engineer must be 90-100% complete and current when the application is submitted.
Atlas assessment
Atlas Opportunity Score: 82/100. This is a substantial, current Maine capital-preservation opportunity with legitimate school relevance for qualifying historic educational buildings. Applicant readiness requirements, historic-status requirements and the nongovernmental match narrow the eligible pool.
N9+ Fit Score: 0/100. The Nonagon N9+ remote physical examination platform is not a legitimate fit for this historic-building preservation program. Atlas should not force a telehealth or clinical-technology angle.
Dr. Miltie direct-vendor fit: 0/100 for N9+. This is not a clinical-technology procurement.
