The Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence (RICADV) is accepting applications for the 2026 Deborah DeBare Domestic Violence Prevention Fund. The fund supports community-led primary prevention strategies addressing domestic violence and related health-equity priorities in Rhode Island. Applications are due October 19, 2026 by 5:00 PM. Funding
RICADV states that $489,000 total will be distributed over a three-year grant cycle. The Implementation Grant pool is $405,000, with applicants able to request up to $35,000 in Year 1, with continuation awards of up to $50,000 in each of Years 2 and 3. The Micro Grant pool is $84,000, with requests up to $1,000 to $15,000 for the 2026-2027 seven-month cycle.
Who can apply
Eligible applicants include Rhode Island public and nonprofit community-based organizations, faith-based institutions, and middle and high schools that demonstrate the required prevention commitment, capacity, or competency. The RFP is not limited to programs for young people, though priority is given to proposals engaging and affirming youth of color, LGBTQ+, Two-Spirit and gender-nonconforming youth, and youth with disabilities. Eligible 501(c)(3) organizations must have been active for at least two years. Unincorporated groups and organizations without 501(c)(3) status may apply through an eligible fiscal agent or sponsor.
Priority and program focus
Priorities include community-led domestic violence primary prevention, youth and young-adult engagement, healthy relationships and consent, health equity, and school-based prevention. Schools developing or implementing prevention efforts aligned with Rhode Island’s Lindsay Ann Burke Act are specifically relevant to the program.
Submission
The completed application must be submitted as a single PDF by email to Somaly Prak-Martins, Director of Prevention, at somaly@ricadv.org by October 19, 2026 at 5:00 PM. Late or incomplete applications are not accepted. No mandatory match or cost share is stated in the current RFP.
