Atlas Analysis

Atlas Opportunity Score 56/100. N9+ Fit Score 5/100 conditional. QC Healthcare Fit 0/100. Dr. Miltie direct-applicant fit 0/100. A narrow N9+ connection would require an eligible School of Medicine faculty-led course project specifically involving remote physical examination or telehealth pedagogy, with project-specific cost and procurement allowability confirmed by USC.

Opportunity Overview

The University of South Carolina Center for Teaching Excellence, with support from the Office of the Provost, is accepting applications for the 2026 Innovative Pedagogy Grant. The program supports development or revision of exemplary, engaging courses across delivery formats through funding, instructional design, and pedagogical and technological support.

Funding

USC states that up to 10 grants of $2,500 each will be awarded, subject to application quality and available funding. That represents up to $25,000 in aggregate if all 10 awards are made. Funds may support salary, equipment, student support, travel, or other resources needed to implement the pedagogical innovation.

Deadline

Applications are due Monday, November 2, 2026. The current USC page does not publish an exact closing time or timezone, so Atlas does not infer one.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants are full-time faculty at USC Columbia or the Schools of Medicine in Columbia and Greenville. The proposing faculty member is expected to be instructor of record the first time the funded course is offered and may receive funding for only one course. Prior CTE teaching-grant recipients must have completed prior funded work and submitted required final reports.

Application Requirements

The published application requires the online application, a signed Department Support Form, and a current resume or CV highlighting teaching experience and accomplishments. Department leadership must confirm that the funded course will be offered within the next year and that the applicant will teach it. Proposals offered through a unit outside the applicant’s home department require the appropriate additional endorsement. The project narrative is limited to 1,250 words and addresses the course, goals, pedagogical methods, student learning experience, impact, and sustainability. Applicants must also provide their unit budget manager contact information and a valid PeopleSoft chart string for internal fund transfer.

Review and Timeline

Review considers completeness, clarity and pedagogical quality, innovation, likely impact and sustainability, applicable cross-listed-unit support, and completion of earlier CTE grant obligations when relevant. Awards are scheduled to be announced November 13, 2026, with implementation in Spring, Summer, or Fall 2027 and a final report due December 17, 2027.

Atlas Fit Assessment

Atlas Opportunity Score: 56/100. N9+ Fit Score: 5/100, conditional. QC Healthcare Fit: 0/100. This is an internal USC faculty teaching grant, not a direct Dr. Miltie applicant opportunity. A limited N9+ connection could exist only if an eligible School of Medicine faculty member independently proposes a course-specific remote physical examination or telehealth pedagogy project and confirms that the relevant equipment and internal procurement treatment are allowable. Atlas does not presume that fit.
